Its all about getting everyone to single payer .
Anytime someone touts how great a single payer would be or talks about the health systems in Europe I just respond with "Have you seen the VA?"
Yes, from the inside. While there are good points to it, I have a wonderful doctor, they are overloaded because they spend too much money on furniture for the management, and less on the Veterans.

The law that nobody read before voting on has struck again. Every asshole that voted for this disaster should be stood up against a wall and shot.
The hospital I work in has done that since before Obamacare...now they have added to it saying that diabetics have to have 2 wellness visits per year rather than just the one like their non-diabetic co-workers.
so now for premium "breaks" you can't smoke, you must have a BMI under 30 (no fat people allowed), you must go for yearly health risk assessment, and you must go for your wellness visit each year unless you are diabetic, then twice a year. Oh and the spouses of employees must comply as well.
So where I work they force us on the (bad) health insurance plans. Being military I already have access to wonderful and inexpensive benefits, but I am bleeding on these benefits.
I wish they would at least do premium breaks for the above statements, I would be good to go. Its like I am being punished for being healthy right now.
I don't mind being rewarded for good behavior. Actually using a risk model to set rates seems rather smart as opposed to the prepaid health care model we have now. It sort of evens out all the taxes I have to pay on the recipient class's behalf.
yeah, you're talkin' to someone who doesn't go to the doctor unless I'm dying...so I view forced wellness checks as an annoyance to say the least, and then there is the health risk assessment where they basically check you cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels** , as if that wasn't just done when you had that said wellness check.
**(diabetic or not, cuz you can't just tell them you are not diabetic, you have to prove it, again and again each year)
We don't have wellness checks where I work but looking at some of specimens who work at corporate we should. All I'm saying is that since I take care of myself and am a low risk as a result, it would be nice to catch a break for the effort. I do fully understand I'm supporting the fatties, smokers, and those in poor health as a pooled risk participant.
I get what you're saying, I don't like paying for those non-compliant's myself. But my lack of health claims should be sufficient evidence that I don't have self induced health issues...

Yeah, I would very much resent those kinds of requirements from my employer... even though I don't smoke, have low BMI, and all that good stuff. I'm just too ornery for the modern world.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't......You must start a wellness program but if you do we will sue you. The most monumental clusterf*ck ever dropped on a population. I can't wait till Obamadeathcare is DEAD.
