  • If you haven't read the book.. 50 Shades of Grey, you can still get a
    chuckle from this poem. For any that do not know....a "zimmer" is the
    British term for a senior's walker....Zimmer is the manufacturer's name.

    FIFTY SHADES OF GREY - (a husband's point of view)

    The missus bought a Paperback,
    down Shepton Mallet way,
    I had a look inside her bag;
    T'was "Fifty Shades of Grey".

    Well I just left her to it,
    And at ten I went to bed.
    An hour later she appeared;
    The sight filled me with dread...

    In her left she held a rope;
    And in her right a whip!
    She threw them down upon the floor,
    And then began to strip.

    Well fifty years or so ago;
    I might have had a peek;
    But Mabel hasn't weathered well;
    She's eighty four next week!!

    Watching Mabel bump and grind;
    Could not have been much grimmer.
    And things then went from bad to worse;
    She toppled off her Zimmer!

    She struggled back upon her feet;
    A couple minutes later;
    She put her teeth back in and said
    I am a dominater !!

    Now if you knew our Mabel,
    You'd see just why I spluttered,
    I'd spent two months in traction
    For the last complaint I'd uttered.

    She stood there nude and naked,
    bent forward just a bit
    I went to hold her, sensual like
    and stood on her left tit!

    Mabel screamed, her teeth shot out;
    My god what had I done!?
    She moaned and groaned then shouted out:
    "Step on the other one"!!

    Well readers, I can't tell no more;
    About what occurred that day.
    Suffice to say my jet black hair,
    Turned fifty shades of grey.

  • Personal opinion:

    No person with an ounce of decency should read the books nor see this movie. I am skipping it. It is disgusting, the source material is not the best either (it was based on the vampire thing), and I advice young women to stay away from this and ANY other movie that promotes aberrant behavior. It is not cute it is not sexy and it is not awesome.

    People need to start privatizing their lives. We are way too free with our lives now. It is not cute. It is not awesome.

    • Is it aberrant if both parties want to do it? If it's not medically harmful and happens in the context of a monogamous relationship, I think it's okay. I was sitting in a bar one night a long time ago with a bunch of guys, and someone posed the following question: if you walked into your house with a Little Red Riding Hood costume and a Big Bad Wolf costume, and said to your wife, "Baby, we're having sex tonight," what would she say? We had a blast going around the table answering that question. I laughed so hard at some of the answers my gut was hurting. But the best answer came from the guy whose marriage I considered the best in the crowd.

      His answer: "My wife would say, 'Cool! Which costume do you want me to wear?'"

      After twenty years of marriage, he was so certain that would be her answer, he was willing to bet $500 and carry a tape recorder to prove it.

      • The characters aren't married. As per the information I gathered from this book and the information about the movie, he does this because he cannot have a normal relationship with someone. Also this has nothing to do with wearing costumes. It is far worst than that.

        It is not normal to want to do this with people because normal relationships are "hard" and difficult to maintain. As per the source material information I gathered, he likes to do this because he is a freak. He is a broken man with aberrant desires and somehow he finds a woman that has no self esteem and is easily seduced by his money and charms... If he was poor, ugly and old do you think she would do this?

        That is what we are discussing here. We aren't discussing MARRIED people wanting to experiment or partake of activities between them with no one else attached or part of it and in complete privacy.

        • Ah, well, that's what I get for chiming in when I have no idea what the book or movie are about. I've managed to gather two things: that it's about bondage and it's poorly written. So I should probably shut up.

          I do like the bondage part though. Anything that makes a fun activity even funner...

  • People who are actually into the lifestyle, as many of my friends are, laugh at the book AND the movie.

  • When this book was burning up the best seller list, I decided to buy it and read it. I was not even into the second chapter and I wondered, "Did a teenager write this?". The book was so awful. It was not the subject matter that bothered me but the writing itself. It was full of errors, plot holes, the main characters are wooden and it was written so simplistically I had to check out the author. The "writer" E.L. James wrote this book as Twilight Fan Fiction and posted it online to one of the sites. It was such a hit with the Twilight fans it actually got a book deal. I am floored this book made so much money, how in the world can people think it's a good book? I was reading some five star reviews of the book at AMAZON AND I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT. --One person wrote- I neva read books and this one is grate!!-- (That is the exact quote as they wrote it) They don't read, so they have nothing to compare it to. This really scares the heck outta me. The women who have read this book and think it's "grate" are idiots. ..and I realized just how many of them there are. (Shivers).

    • i wish i could remember the author's name, but i had once found a book (while surfing Amazon) on "how to make it in america," and saw that the author had since written a dozen or so books about UFO's and various conspiracy stuff (UFO's in cahoots with politicians, y'know, that kind of crap)...

      i never did find a review or excerpts from his how-to book, but the rest of his catalog fairly well explains it. LOL.

  • As someone pointed out on another thread, It's funny to see how many of the femanazie/equality crowd are lined up to see a woman in bondage film.

    Rather telling. don't ya think?

    • I was shocked when I first heard they were making the book into a movie. The book is so awful, but you're right. It is rather telling. I did read it. The writing by itself is just childlike and simple. The story is about an overbearing man who likes abuse and pressures the female into doing what he wants even though she is not really into "it". But she just loves him soooo much and he is so misunderstood and she can help him. I would have just hit him over the head with my frying pan and been done with it.

  • A watered down pseudo adult film about S&M, how original. I know most guys won't go to see it, unless their significant other drags them along kicking and screaming.

    • NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt (you remember the show Brian Williams use to host) Had a story on the movie, and guys were giving it thumbs down, and the women who liked it were shall we say..On the plus size.....
