As desperate as things are getting for "Dear Leader's" funding you would think that every penny is important.
I need his address, so I can mail him the cream can full of pennies I've been saving up. I have reasons.
So do I. They stopped making full copper pennies a couple of decades ago, they are now zinc with copper plating.
I save every penny that is all copper, they will become more valuable over time, just like the all silver dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars.
1982 was the last year for copper pennies. And the first year for the zinc pennies. They made both types that year, and the only way to tell them apart is by weight -- the zinc pennies are lighter.

However, there is another way to tell. Drop the penny flat on your countertop. The copper ones have a "ring" to them, zinc has a "dull" sound.
