You give government the task of buying a pack of gum, they have to have a committee first to check feasibility. Then a steering committee, and a committee to take in all the bids, see who has been making all the correct contributions to the correct politicians, then award the contract to the lowest bidder that has paid the right bribes.
Now, the contract is going to have to include designing, building, testing, and operations and maintenance costs for a vehicle for the union guy to drive over to the store to get the gum. When he gets off break. Wow, the store. Almost forgot. We have to have another committee to determine which store to buy the gum at,..................
I can't go on. This could take hours. I'm gonna walk down to the nearest 7-11 and buy a pack of gum.
You could run that same flow chart for college tuition and student loans. Third party payer systems do not work.
3rd party payer, single payer, and any other scheme the government comes up with to pay for anything!
Since they don't pay their own bills, and keep charging everything up on the "unlimited" credit card of the American taxpayer, I wouldn't trust the government to pay for a pack of gum!

“Hey Alan, let’s get a few things straight..
1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.
2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).
3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud..
4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

When talking to Doc's and nurses that work at the totally FREE county hospital you will hear how the free loaders demand a ton of various services. Cat scans for no reason, xrays, my toe hurts, my ass hurts, etc etc. The health care professionals say they have to provide all this stuff, even when obviously un-necessary just so they dont get sued. Dr to me, "I am not going to allow that woman to become a millionaire because she got drunk and fell down." Actual quote.
