For the children: striking NYC school bus drivers slash tires on buses

For the children: striking NYC school bus drivers slash tires on buses. “Saboteurs stabbed holes in tires of two school buses and deflated tires on 10 others idled by school bus drivers’ strike, authorities and bus company employees said today.” To remind you, it costs NYC nearly $7K per student to drive them around on yellow busses, about twice as much as No. 2, LA. Maybe it’s time to consider alternatives to the public schools, busses and all.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • Have em take taxi's. Cant be any more expensive. Maybe the cab drivers and the bus drivers unions can get after each other. Perhaps a big shoot out. Where's the downside.

  • New York City drivers get $40.000 per year. Missoula, Montana drivers get $11.85 per hour and usually get 1.5 to 2 hours of work in the morning and the same amount in the afternoon. They need a union in Montana too.

  • Of course Mayor Bloomtard would never do anything about his union pals slashing tires, he's much too busy trying to ban transfats, soda and guns.

    • Looks like he shoulda banned knives....Those poor little tires never had a chance to live a well rounded life...

  • Tag whatever union that represents the drivers collectively. They want bargain that way, punish them that way.
