Former Democratic staffer, burned by Obamacare: “I was wrong. Very wrong.” Congressional staffer spent two years enduring the slings and arrows of outraged constituents, unhappy over her Party’s crap sandwich. She’s since lost her job and now has to buy health insurance under the law she defended. The result? Petard, hoisted, yada, yada, yada.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • This won't be the last story of someone who worked to get Obamacare passed, only to be screwed in the end. I will love every 1 of them.

  • I'm deep behind enemy lines right now. I'm in San Francisco and I have to say I've heard a lot people hating on the obamacare issue. I just had a short chat with one of the facilities maintenance guys in the elevator of my hotel. He's got 17 years with Hilton and he just got his job cut to part time status. I got to my floor before I got a chance to ask him what he thinks of his new "healthcare options." Poor sap...

    • I have no sympathy for any Obama voter who loses his insurance. In fact, I hope they get the hell fined out of them if they opt not to get it on the exchanges.

Still, most of these jackasses will be means tested into the subsidies since one is eligible for them if his income is up to 400% of the poverty level and then I get to pay for theirs and mine.

      • Re: poverty level. Why I didn't look it up a couple weeks ago when Rose asked if anybody knew where the line was these days. Wasn't being a Richard, it just doesn't mean anything anymore, poverty level + x. Whatever.

        • Somebody DID look it up. 400% of peverty level is pretty generous. But that just means tax credits, not that the policy is free, so . . . . .

          • Are you sure it's a tax credit? I believe it is a direct subsidy to reduce the premium paid by the recipient.

          • I'm not sure. Initially I understood it to be subsidies, but recently I hve heard the term Tax Credit bandied about. It caught my attention specifically because it was (another) change in the dialog. Now Obama is saying that the reason your policy got cancelled was because it was "substandard."

  • There is going to have to be a lot more pain before these brain dead 0bots finally reboot and purge their hard drives. Let the PAIN begin...pathetic dope. "I didn't think I was going to have to pay for it!" (Meaning: someone else was going to pay for mine for me...f***ing thieves!)

    • But libs like Livvy constantly state that no one was told their healthcare would be freem that nly rightwingers nutjobs say that. So where did this Obama staffer get this idea?

    • These same 0bots that played the race card every time Obamas policys were criticized are finally realizing that they fell for a suckers bet dealt from a stacked deck. Let the PAIN begin. Hopefully it will open some eyes.

  • She thought Obummercare would make healthcare affordable for everyone???? WTF??? She is a floundering idiot. Oh yeah now she has woke up to what was blatantly obvious to anyone with a couple of working brain cells. Tough titty. She deserves her pain, not only for being a moron but for causing a lot of other non-deserving people pain. So happy she ended up in the same boat.

    • Yea, like the Governor of Kentucky telling reporters that more than 300,000 people have visited Kentucky’s health- care exchange website, and more than 26,000 people have signed up for plans, with 10,000 more “in the process of choosing,” Beshear said.

What he doesn't tell you is that about 24,000 of the 26,000 are Medicaid patients. Not exactly the people who are expected to carry the weight of the expenses of the program.

      • That, and I've been looking off and on today for a total # of people (employees, union members) who have 1 year waivers. Without trying too hard, best I can come up with is all from 2010ish, nothing later. The # then was 1.5 million +, who knows what it is now. I even tried HHS.gov and every variation of ACA, waivers, approved waivers, accepted, applied and the kitchen sink, good luck. What happens when these people get dumped into the "system"?

[edit] I can find a total # of "companies & organizations", but not a # of how many insured people that covers.

          • Not to mention there will be very few doctors participating....next Mutual of Obamaha will be hiring veterinarians to help treat the masses..."Okay Olivia lets see you sniff your butt, okay now can you roll over and play dead while I vaccinate you for worms?"

          • Yep, the only person I know who is excited about their prospects at the website is a Medicare patient. She really does have enough medical problems to keep her from being much of a productive citizen. Supplements her SSi with petsitting services. Cute little shit, though. Too bad she hasn't been able to sign up yet.

    • I hate to admit it, but it kinda gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling while reading it. Ah, wth, I giggled my ass off.

    • Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....This Staffer got just what Obamadeathcare ordered....On the way to single payer and democrats too dumb to see it....Death panels here we come...

  • Kind of reminds me of the movie "I Robot", where Will Smith tells the lady defending the Robot factory after the robots started to take over, " Somehow I told you so just doesn't do it".
