GAS PAINS? Union strike could spell end of $2 gas. Really? We have to wonder if someone paid this union off to do this? Going on strike when prices and profits are down seems to be a mighty stupid time to ask for a raise to us.

Sounds like scheduled negotiations had been underway for some time. I'd say convenient, but not suspiciously so. Not really the way to gin up sympathy from the masses, after all.
I just heard 2 weeks on the news. Short time to be calling a strike. I used to negotiate with a union 2 weeks is nothing.

When did unions act rationally? The Auto workers union basically committed suicide. Slowly, but suicide nevertheless. The only difference is either they act to harm their membership quickly, or harm them slowly.
My father was in a union (forced unionization, but I repeat myself - he absolutely hated the union), working for Exide in NJ. They would strike every 2-3 years. Then the company moved to SC. They offered everyone their jobs, but at local scale. Almost no one chose to move.
The lower gas prices are great, but they offend Chicago Jesus, it does not fit his plan to take every last dollar we have, so he gets his Union Buddies and major campaign donors to screw things up again.
