Funny, those seem to be the problem spots with our nation.
OK, I was trying to figure out how they came up with the entire south 2/3 of Florida as greedy, then when I read their methodology, it made sense. Homeless people move here because it's warmer in the winter, so it skews the numbers heavily in the greed range.
Yeah, I don't think we wanna get too far into any of their methodology. For that matter, I don't think the methodology of 99% of what comes out of university researchers is worth hanging your hat on. Almost every health or medical study I see, for example, is a "meta" study which means, basically, they actually studied nothing - they simply accumulated a bunch of data other people had acquired and drew some fantastical conclusions from it.

You have to admit, having a lefty say anything about sin is what you would call "ironic", given they don't believe in it (except when it's convenient. e.g. Pelosi being a "practicing Catholic" who also thinks abortion is a "choice".) Either you is Catholic, or you ain't, honey. The church has been unequivocal on this.

I don't agree with their methodology for pride. I don't think that an aggregation of all the previous 6 sins constitutes pride. That presumes a causal relationship they cannot prove. Maybe there are more prideful sinners in a lustful area, but it's equally probable that they feel shame/remorse, as just one example.
I think that it was an undergrad-level effort, where they gave up and threw this together just to have all 7. A better effort could have cooked up a better metric.
Myself, I'd say that use of derogatory terms for poorer or less educated/privileged people would have been a better choice.

I think that's mostly Houston and Dallas in the red in Tejas. Though Austin should have it's own blob. Spoke to a friend there this AM. He's constantly bombarded with liberal BS.
Well, it's Austin to the coast, which is where the wealthy university profs have their ocean front homes, and that does cover Houston which is also a liberal bastion. Houston is bigger than Austin but let's be honest: Austin is the intellectual point of origin for leftist ideas in Texas. Austin is like San Francisco with cowboy hats.
As for the red blob covering Dallas, no. The red blob definitely does not extend up to Dallas. Dallas has its own reddish blush to the northeast, true, but every big city is bound to have some liberals due to the contagious nature of insanity and the close quarters.
Not to get into a pissing contest here, but Dallas county, Dallas is a solid red block. Travis county, Austin is not even pink in the map. Most of that red blob attached to Dallas and just south of is oddly enough some serious bible belt country. Waco looks to be in the middle of it.
Agreed, Austin is the left coast of Texas. But the map has the greater Houston area blanketed. Most of the area between it and Austin is farmland with strong German, Czech heritage. Again, not typical democrat voters. Go east and northeast of Houston and it turns into inbred Klan country.
I was about to call you crazy but I took one more look at the Google map I was using as evidence and realized the red dot Google was showing me in the middle of Texas, which I assumed was pointing at Dallas, was actually just pointing at the middle of Texas. So you're not crazy. Which must be a big relief.

to my eye, that red does not extend to Austin. Austin lies west of the southern tip of TX, while even that last bit of pink there does not.

Greed: calculated using the total per capita income compared to the number of inhabitants below the poverty line per capita, with data obtained through the U.S. Census Bureau.
I dont have a map of poverty-line folk handy, but I'm guessing they are distributed more evenly among the national population then the wealthier are. That makes these hotspots more an indicator of where wealth tends to concentrate

I would like to point out that little blob of greed in Colorado is around Boulder, another liberal stronghold.
I looked at Colorado again and I clearly live in one of those deep red greed areas.. at first glance i was thinking I lived a bit south of that

Greed looks to be accurate from a stereotypical POV but wrath is a surprise with its concentration in the Southeast. Gluttony? I guess the entire country is fat so the whole thing is a regional wash.

I noticed that too. Just some poor nerdy geographers with a new idea - they probably had no idea they would get this much attention. If it's a university server getting crushed, the whole college is probably mad at them.
Of course no one considers the greed of the recipient class where no matter how much wealth they receive by government fiat, it is never enough.
