The judge will probably instruct the jury of the possible levels of conviction they can assess. I believe they will convict Zimmerman of the lesser manslaughter charge, we'll have an election, in which oba MAO will lose causing a new bitching session for minorities thus ending the obsession with Zimmerman/Martin; then at some point in the future Zimmerman will be quitely pardoned or his sentence commuted by Governor Christ.

Regardless of Florida's 'stand your ground law', self defense is self defense. He was getting the crap beat out of himself, feared for his life, and managed to get a shot off. I'd do the same had I have been in his shoes.

Think barry's justice department won't bring Zimmerman up on a federal trial for civil rights violations. They will.
Zimmerman's only hope is that the trial is delayed until after November, and our smartest president ever gets his ass kicked on November 6th.
I don't care about Zimmerman and I don't care about Martin, although I do feel bad that he is (in my opinion) unnecessarily dead. The only question I had was can someone who initiated contact with someone that did not visibly commit any crime at any time after being followed for blocks and then due to that contact the follower got cornered and beat up, then armed with a gun ends the life of the one being followed... can this person go free without any repercusions?
It seems that the answer is yes, because the law is ambiguous and badly redacted and the law wasn't prepared for this particular situation to arise out of this law.
I don't think that is right. However, if the jury fiinds that he is not guilty and that he acted in self defense even though he initiated the contact to begin with (if he hadn't there would have been no problem at all) then the jury will do what the jury will do and I will still believe there is something wrong with that law and I think that due to pressure Florida WILL HAVE to make amendments to it. That if someone approaches a potentially dangerous person or situation and they put themselves in the spot of being assaulted they cannot use stand your ground as self defense. I will be surprised if they don't do it after this case.
Is there some evidence somewhere that indicates that Zimmerman initiated contact? It seems to me that this is a question that hasn't been answered, and might not ever be answered in any provable way. There isn't any eyewitness to the beginning of the contact. And most witnesses that have come forward are now suspect, since they have drastically changed their stories.
Zimmerman will be a fool to now confess to that, the witnesses are no help because no one saw how the fight started. Martin's girlfriend's story is shaky, but interesting as I recall she stated that Zimmerman said something if I am not wrong. If I am sorry, I lost track of all the he says, he says. However regardless of how you want to put it had Zimmerman not followed or put himself in Martin's radar, none of this would be an issue. I think that is the question. Had Zimmerman called the cops: go wait for them OR stayed at home would this be an issue? I think not. The fact is that now Zimmerman is not going to confess he initiated contact (if he did) even if it was to call out Martin to ask him what he was doing walking around. Zimmerman's father story changed as well. It is a mess. However like I said I dont care about all of that. I want to know what the resolution of this case is going to be: the dissolution of stand your ground or an amendment to it that if a person follows or in any way by word or deed places themselves in a dangerous situation should they use stand your ground once they are cornered...? That is the crux from the very beginning.... EVERYTHING ELSE from Obama wanting a son like Martin to people on the right who are angry at the race baiting is unimportant in my opinion.
I agree that stand your ground shouldn't extend to purposely putting yourself in the position of needing to stand your ground. As for the initiation of contact, there were only two people there at that precise moment in time, and only one of them is here to tell the story. So we'l never know on that one. Even if Zimmerman walks, he'll never be free again.
Perhaps a small price to pay considering he killed someone and it is quite possible he wouldn't have to if he had acted responsibly in the first place. We will never know for sure, but I am free to hold an opinion on the issue.

I am not at all sure he will walk. I think his decisions that night are going to be manipulated, analyzed and discussed to such a level that a fair trial, much less verdict will be impossible. 2 people's lives and their families' lives destroyed by race baiting and the media
The race baiting commie agitators will burn large combustible components with Zimmerman's guilty verdict or acquittal. Doesn't matter because for that group, riots and parties are hard to distinguish.

Now granted, there will be some spillover from one to the other, but the majority will stick with the pattern.
