• I know I'm going to catch hell for this but here goes any way. What man in his right mind wants more than one wife at a time. After awhile all you are going to hear is the nagging and complaining so why multiple it.

  • Don't forget if you have 10 wives you have 10 mothers-in-law. Ugh!

    • That joke comes up a lot when discussing this topic. Unfortunately, the women in these relationships are not an equal with the man. More like property and thus subservient. You nag, you get a crack in the chops. He is the master and their job is to make the master happy.

• Is it just me or does the guy in the video look like a registered sex offender?

• I find it interesting that these weird sects invariably support multiple WIVES, but woe to the woman who commits "adultery" by sleeping with more than one man. That right there taints the possibility of it being a legitimate practice. Its just (literally) a guy's wet dream.

• Well before we all get too het up and up on our high horses: yes polygamy has been essentially taboo in Western culture for a long time. But the Old Testament is loaded with it, and neither Old nor New particularly condemn it. One need only think of King Solomon's legendary stable of a thousand wives (I know, some were wives, some were mistresses.) And where St Paul in the NT brushes the topic, it is only to advise (somewhat ambiguously) that bishops be "the husband of one wife."

  By all means, oppose this as Mohammedan indoctrination. But be careful which window you're sniping from*. Keep it out the window of modern, Western law, because trying to shoot it down* on general moralistic grounds is a LOT shakier.

  • All that, yep. But we do have a law forbidding it, do we not? The state of Utah gets run through the ringer every few years over the hard core Mormons that 'practice' it. Or am I thinking of some other place...

    • That's exactly my point. If we don't keep condemnation of it on strictly modern, legal grounds, both the Mohammedans and the leftards will be be waving the Old Testament at us, "Well what about this here, huh? Nyah nyah nyah, hypocrites. etc."

      • This might be the separation thingy. After all, we are a country of laws of man. That history shows civilization has advanced beyond barbaric practices, at least for the non-mohammies, and that we have institutions of law that are to be controlled in their application of laws by the courts here. We should be striving to keep the beheadings and amputations and honor killings out of the realm of law here. We have already prohibited many cruel and unusual punishments as prescribed by our Constitution. No more flogging and stocks in the public square. To inject the Christian aspects from the Bible, that would be the New Testament, would be to acknowledge the great shift from the extra-ancient practices of the Torah. Forget about the nonsense in the pedophiles writings. So, no sharia for me, thank you. America shouldn't be that stupid.

• Polygamy is against the law here in the United States, is it not? I don't care what the mussies have to say about it. It runs absolutely counter to the law here and whoever promotes it in schools should be punished severely.

  • Same with the FLDS. No more multiple marriages, then having all but the first wife apply for food stamps and other benefits as single mothers. Every FLDS and other sects who practice polygamy should be in jail. It is ILLEGAL. Even the main Mormon church dropped the practice In order for Utah to be admitted as a state.
