GM ending hybrid pickup truck production next year. Another Government Motors success story!
The lowest-priced Silverado Hybrid, which is only available as a four-door Crew Cab, sells for $41,888, and has an EPA rating of 21 mpg combined. A conventional Silverado Crew Cab with a V8 engine with an EPA rating of 16 mpg combined can be had for $9,000 less, and requires just $750 more fuel each year for the average user.
With numbers like that we’re surprised they even sold one of them. We have to assume the 2,235 people who bought one this year were educated in California with the new math. Eleventy!

Really? Someone thought a work vehicle would be able to work on a battery powered motor?
How do they figure a loaded truck, pulling a trailer, will do anything on a battery?
What happens to those batteries at this time of the year in places like Minnesota? Where I live, & it is 25* right now. Batteries don't do well in the cold, but whatever. Forward.

What the hell??? You mean someone is left at GM that can actually do a cost benefit analysis. ie "We are building bunches of them but nobody's buying them, so we should stop making them." I am stunned. I thought everyone left at GM was now a government employee and therefore that complex logic would be well beyond their abilities.
GM will be producing cars that will have a political market rather then being wanted in the free market. The Chevy Volt & Chevy Spark are examples of that, & you will get more of them. At some point, GM will either need to be overhauled & the gov't/UAW partnership will need to be desolved, or GM goes the way of AMC.
When it does go the way of AMC and Studebaker, we are all gonna get the bill...we'll end up paying for shitty cars we don't even get...There is not one damn thing in this whole country run by the government that is worth a shit anymore...
NSS, we are already stuck with the bill. As long as the gov't has a 27% stake in GM, & they always produce cars nobody really wants, but the politicians do want(but won't drive), we will have to bail them out every few years. Until the GM stock price is up to $53 a share, no dice.
