  • So now the government is forcing people to do something they don't believe in? Well, there's a word for that it's called Tyranny, and these bureaucratic arseholes and their LBGT pals should realize it.

      • And therein lies the root of the problem. I have known Priests and Pastors to refuse to marry couples just because they thought the pairing was a bad idea. Those people either took another look at their plans, or went to.a JP or Judge or whatever and got married. Gays have a right to marry. I think a legal union is, in fact, a good idea. But no one has a "right" to anything in any religion except to.practice that belief system. Their acceptance depends on the religion. For instance, Orthodox Jews for mellenia treated people who married outside the faith as dead to.their family and community!

        • I was once married to a lovely lady, who was Jehovah's Witness. How far do you think I would have gotten in asking one of their elders to marry us, being the heathen that I am?

  • The difference here is whether people who run for profit businesses which includes wedding venues should be subject to non-discrimination laws.

    If the couple really don't want to do this they can subcontract to someone who will.

    • Many Ministers, Pastors and Priests require a fee from marriage ceremonies. This for profit, non for profit bullsh*t of an excuse is getting on my nerves. Just because you make money out of something, doesn't mean that the government has the right to determine what you should do. Especially when no true discrimination is happening. There is one thing about discriminating people from being something that they can't or won't change that in the end has no bearing on how I live my life. It is one thing altogether to be forced to participate in the behavior and activities of people whom you disagree with as that does have a bearing in how I live my life. I wouldn't discriminate against a white person wanting a birthday cake, but I would discriminate against a white person coming into my store wearing a KKK sheet demanding I make a birthday cake with KKK symbols. I won't participate in anything having to do with the KKK, so why should I bake a cake for this person?

      • I think if you review most priests/pastors tax returns, they don't make a great deal of money. Even those that accept payment for weddings and funerals get about $100 max for several hours of additional work. And if the parties involved are members of their flock, they generally don't charge at all. For weddings that includes premarital counseling, 1-3 hours in the evening for rehearsal, then several hours for the ceremony, generally on an "off" day. To call that profit is laughable!

    • So your okay with the government forcing you to do something against your beliefs?

      Well, what happens when some gay couple decides to try and force a Muslim Imam to marry them? Since the religion of peace stones gays to death, that might be quite interesting. Or do you give them a pass because you don't want to offend them just Christians?

      And all those signs you see saying "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" are now meaningless? Since the state will dictate what you can and can not do?

      The only reason that gays do this is to punish Christians, nothing more, nothing less. Like a heat seeking missile they seek out people who had stated they gay way of life is against their beliefs. Not all together different than Hitler and the Jews.

      You can not legislate fairness, never could, never will. As I said before "fair" is a place you go to ride the rides, eat cotton candy and step in monkey poop. Life is not fair and never will be no matter how much some idiotic government council says it is.

      WE legislated "fair" rules for handicapped. Many lawyers specialize now in lawsuits against businesses that they feel are not ADA complaint, but will let them off the hook for cash. Is that the next step for the Gay Nazi's?

      I don't care if you want to marry your toaster, just because you use your private parts in a way that was different from the original design does NOT make you special or more deserving of rights than me or anyone else. When is the next straight parade? Where is the white entertainment network on TV? Why do I need to press one for English? Every group thinks they are special. We are all the same, but some feel the need to force their views on everyone.

      For me, I would like to offer those that want to force their views on me a nice cup of "shut the F*ck up". I don't need the government telling me what to believe or how to live outside of established norms. Democrats, especially love to legislate sex acts and organs. They have nothing else to do and they are pandering to less than 3 percent of the population. They are also the first to say live and let live no matter what you believe, unless of course you do not believe what they do.

      If your whole goal in life is to force your minority beliefs on others, then you lack conviction and have had some issues in your own life. Rationalization is nothing more than a lack of a winning argument.

      Next Step for liberals and the Gay Mafia will be marking Christian buildings like Germany did with the Jews? Perhaps you agree with those that think pedophiles are just misunderstood and sex with children is okay? Where does it end?

      If these folks don't want to host weddings for gay couple, that is their right, There are plenty of places including mainstream churches that will do it.

      • Exactly. I agree... Even Bill O'Reilly made this point a few weeks ago about feminists. They, the alphabet guild, the race card baiters and all their ilk are NOT looking for true equality, they are looking to be considered special and different and better (more equal) than others. That means that some will be punished in order to take their space. That is tyranny and evil.

      • The purpose of marriage in not just the "fair" distribution of stuff when on of the spouses kicks the bucket. The purpose of marriage is to provide a stable environment for the possible issue of offspring. It is for the creation and maintenance of the first unit of any state...the family; nothing more, nothing less. Historical societies did not openly, or even widely accept homosexual unions 'marriages.' They would have considered them ludicrous and non-sequitur. In other words, there's no there, there. We have way too many Satanists in high office and their agenda is to destroy W3estern civilization. This End Times destruction is written about extensively, not just be Christians, but by Jews and Muslims alike. This belief in the rise of an evil malice during the End Times is not just a monotheistic preconception either, Zoroastrians and Hindu cultures allude to this as well.

        So if the purpose of marriage is to raise children, then why do we even entertain the stupidity of same-sex marriage. It's not even marriage and calling it marriage doesn't change a whit of what it really is... a state sanctioned non-entity.

        • Maybe it sounds weird but it is also akin to calling transexuals male or female when they are not. We all know, nature perpetuates itself by reproduction and it so happens that mammals reproduce in female / male pairs. By enabling these lost souls we do them no favors and it results in the same sort of nihilism that same sex "marriage" engenders vis a vis the family as the bedrock of a healthy society.

  • So when are these courageous crusaders for "equal" rights gonna go down to the mosque and demand the imam marry them?

  • Yes and someone somewhere was telling us that since its inceptions there has been NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with "gay marriage". That it has been wildly accepted and there has been no harm whatsoever to society and individuals alike.

    WRONG!

    Since its inception, "gay marriage" HAS been a problem for a lot of groups and individuals as THEIR rights have been trampled upon. When some people become more equal to others you have tyranny.

  • Good for the ministers that they stood up to the gay mafia. These individuals feels as if they have every right to force others to bend to their beliefs and positions. Guess what, we don't have to. This is the USA. If you are gay and have been granted the right to marriage over the wishes of the people. There are justice of the peace, judges and others who can marry you. Where do you get the position that any and every minister must marry you. They don't. Many ministers and preaches in this area won't marry individuals who have been divorced. This is their religious position. It's not one of mine, but under no circumstances am I going to demand that they change their beliefs and positions because it's not in line with mine. Not going to.

    • Not even being a religious person at all, I have to wonder why someone would WANT to have their marriage performed by someone who doesn't want to perform it.

      • It is about the ability to say that they were able to control someone and to have someone bend to their will. It is about ego and about arrogance. Forcing people to do as one wants is a desire of people who feel that they have had no power in their lives. They are power hungry. It is an evil thing.

        • Oh, I was confused. They keep saying that they want to marry because they love each other, like everyone else. To me, that would mean they would want it to be a celebration of their love, not a power trip. Silly me.

          • Exactly. If their love is true and powerful, it doesn't need anyone's approval and it doesn't need a stamp from an organization nor people that they deem to be bigots. I certainly don't need approval from the KKK nor the Neo-Nazis if I ever get married to a white man (as an example) and therefore I wouldn't go to one of them to officiate my wedding. I don't believe myself to bigoted like them, but if they want to call me that, that is fine, but even still I shouldn't be forced to accept it just like I wouldn't try to force a KKK member or organization to accept me and my white husband. There is something really wrong with the alphabet guild and their obvious attack on Christianity.

          • Believe me Kimmy, if you marry a white man, the KKK or Neo-Nazis will be the least of your worries! You will get more crap from the black community than from the white racists. I've already heard black women complaining about "white women marrying our men" when a white woman marries a black sports star. Yet I never hear them complaining when one of their lowlife unemployed men marry white.

  • If I were them, and the lawsuit fails, I would close the chapel, sell the property, and move somewhere that they still observe the Constitution.
