This is a clear case of a hate crime. It's time to send in the FBI civil rights division to investigate this matter.
Typical animals. The only thing he did wrong was not being properly armed.
This guy needs a good .45 on him at all times. The only true cure for criminality is a 230 grain JHP in the brain.

I remember cruising through my GFs neighborhood in high school. I had the windows down and the stereo cranked. Obeying all traffic laws, just making some noise. I looked back and some man was in the street behind me waving his arms. I didn't know him so I went to GFs house thinking nothing of it. She was not home, so I left the way I came in. As I approached the same house, the guy jumps into the middle of the street, swinging a shovel and screaming!! I stopped and the guy just lost it and started running at me, screaming and now has his shovel cocked back ready to swing. Alarmed, I punched it and aimed right for where he was standing. Needless to say he shit his pants and ran for his yard. He threw his shovel at me as I went by. He missed, but had he hit my car, I would have stopped and beat him in front of his family and neighbors with the shovel or the business of the two piece pool cue I had in the car. Neither one of us made the correct choice that day and we were both lucky nobody got hurt. You never know how you or someone else is going to react if they feel threatened. Unless you're ready and capable of a delivering an ass whooping, call the cops.
About 25 years ago I was driving up the street near my house. I saw a black guy and his girlfriend walking on the sidewalk, but they were arguing. Next thing I know, he slugs her and she hits the ground. He leaned over her looking like he was going to whack her again. I drove up on the sidewalk next to him, jumped out of my car with my 5 cell Mag Light in my hand, screaming at him that if he hit her again I would beat the shit out of him. He said, "She's my girlfriend, you back off". I told him that I didn't care who he was, if he hit her, I would destroy him. He backed off and walked away. I helped her up and she got mad at me.
Sometimes, doing a good deed just doesn't pay.
BTW, I had no idea if he was carrying or not, and I'm not sure I would do that again unless I was.

I always have several knives within quick access, but you know the old saying, "never bring a knife to a gunfight".
Knife wins the gunfight a lot if you're willing to commit first. Also helps that most of these untrained assholes have never pulled the trigger except for during failed drive bys. The ever popular "hold you gat sideways" shooting stance gives you the biggest edge because unless the asshole has the barrel physically touching your body, 9 of 10 times he'll miss. Factor in ammunition that is corroded by ball sweat from packing in his Hilfigers and odds are high that the POS will jam on the second or third round.
So, on average you can win a gunfight with a knife today! You just need to be willing to commit and commit early.
Remember the 21 foot rule, closer than 21 feet and a knife can and will win, someone can cover that distance before most can draw, especially when they get it stuck in their pants..:)
With my Kukri machete, I could circumcise someone and relieve them of their gun in one move. ;-)
Yea, well I guess the fact that the majority of the knives in my truck are machetes would make a difference. ;-)

Just an aside, why I lost it and did a Dad lecture with the youngest daughter 3 or 4 years ago when she was a new driver and I was a passenger in her car and she flipped somebody off.
Yes they deserved it, but it took me awhile to explain why these days I have to make myself not do it... and I'm bigger than she is.
