BRRRAAAAPPPP!!!
What a day so far. Almost 30 family members and a few friends are at the lake today so it was an afternoon of hotdogs, burgers, backed beans, 'tater salad, watermelon and beer. Everyone is resting up and getting ready for the fireworks show tonight. Our flags are flying high and everyone is having a great time.
I hope all of you here have had as wonderful day as I have. Ain't nothing better than family and friends, gathered together to wish our great nation happy birthday and enjoying each others company.
NSS thinks faster than I do, he remembered Red Skelton before I could get back here, so I'll leave this tribute by Johnny Cash instead.
A little independence day pick me up from around the web.
Count yourself a couple more TU's NSS, Red Skelton was a great man.
I was actually part of the crew doing rehab of the road in front of Mr. Skelton's home in the Palm Desert area. While other homeowners bitched and moaned about the inconvenience, the noise, and so on, Red Skelton brought us home brewed iced tea, since we were so hot and sweaty. He was just as wonderful and genuine in person as he was on TV. We were absolutely honored.
Someone disagrees the way it looks...Poor baby probably does not understand America, the constitution or at least the first Amendment.....So for the troll, here this is just for you...
" rights are granted by God, not five lawyers on the Supreme Court."
Worth repeating!
Our rights do come from God... the caveat being that if we're not willing to speak up and otherwise act to protect them, those God-given rights will be assaulted by Godless criminals posing as leaders... and ultimately taken away.
Part of God's gift to us is the ability to defend that which is ours.
Please be mindful of your pets and neighbors pets when you launch fireworks…
Also be mindful that there maybe soldiers/civilians who have been to a war zone with PTSD. They may be ill affected by fireworks.
Be safe!
I live about a mile from Disneyland. When my cats were new to the apartment, the fireworks startled them. Their heads would whip around - "What's that what's that what's that" - and then they'd look to me. "Well, Dad's not upset, so maybe everything is all right," and they'd relax.
That was six years ago. Now when the fireworks start, they're like "oh, it's THAT shit again" and they ignore it. :)
This is the first 4th for our new Pit Bull. The last Pit Bull we had was unaffected by guns, fireworks, thunder and lightning and even earthquakes. She was peaceful but other dogs and people better not mess with her. We send someone over to pick something up from the house one time and she 'treed' the guy in the bathroom...lol. She also treed 2 raccoons in our backyard one time, too.
The last quake lasted forever and actually moved some of the concrete around the pool - she woke up and went right back to sleep as soon as the quake stopped.
I miss her courage.
My German Sheppard was with us at fireworks shows and other places to expose him to as much as we could. Now we he hears fireworks, he tilts and ear, then continues his nap...But like your dog, he is very protective of the family and his bark scares the hell out of people...He lives with a cantankerous cat who is his buddy and hates squirrels, and when friends come to call he acts like he hasn't seem them in decades..He will welcome you and spin his tail till it just about comes off.....Love that guy.
Oh and my wife got me a sign that says it all...
"The more time I spend with my dog, the less I like People"
Sorry for your lost :-(
Happy Independence Day!
G-D Bless the USA and all who live within her.
Happy 239th Birthday America! Given the state of the traitors in D.C. Lets hope we make it to 241.
Have a cold beverage of your choice, set off some fireworks, fly the flag and fire up the Bar-B-Q..Its the least we can do to piss off liberals.
Fortunately, I live in Florida, where fireworks are legal, and I have a nice big batch for launching.
When I was a kid in North Dakota you could by damn near anything, including just a step below professional grade stuff. Man I miss those days..In Kalifornia in select counties you can have "safe and Sane" fireworks..which is a hundred variations of a sparkler. And every day for the past week every news report has stories about the horrors of illegal fireworks, how the whole state will burn, and how grandmas and grandpa will die from the smoke of fireworks.
Every year they predict the "great Fireworks apocalypse and it never comes to pass, just like four or five times a year they predict the "big one" is going to whip out Kalifornia, or some other major crisis will hit.
The Retards in this state love to live in fear of a perpetual crisis. We are always just a day or so away from the end of the world and only the government can save you by taking away your rights.
On of the best things that could happen today? The entire legislature, and the governor sitting on a six inch fireworks mortars at the time of ignition......
Yea, they keep being alarmists and getting it wrong. But the first time something bad happens, all you will hear is "See? I told you!", but they'll never admit the 400 times they were wrong.
Happy Independence Day, which is contrary to what the Lame Stream Media, and leftists everywhere would like you to know.
So while the EPA tries to ban fireworks and charcoal fired grills, the FDA tries to ban hamburgers and hotdogs, and the government tries to ban flying the flag, we need to continue to inform people of the real reason behind this day.
PS, for those who didn't already know, it's because our forefathers got sick of a tyrannical government, and decided to start their own.
A tyrannical government? Gee, I wonder what it was like. I'm so glad we don't have anything like that today.

That isn't the point Red, the courage of the Texans, like the courage of our founding fathers is the point.
I recommend " Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance.''
Two posts above, it's the last link to make it easier if you wanna watch it.. :)
A US Marine enters the Catholic Church confessional booth in Jacksonville, FL.
He tells the priest, "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. Last night, I beat the sh** out of a flag burner and an Obama supporter."
The priest says, "My son, I am here to forgive your sins, not to discuss your community service."
Ooh Rah!
