• An interesting news story could be done on the fact that many African-Americans, particularly in Florida, want guns and stand your ground laws to protect themselves. Sadly, they too often have to protect themselves from their fellow African-Americans. If Fox doesn't do such a story, nobody will on television. Come on dinosaur media, get on the ground in the dangerous neighborhoods and start asking about what the people do to protect themselves. Of course if they did that the footage would have to make it past the editor, wouldn't it?

• CDC studies, Harvard studies...they are ALL moot! The goal of the gun grabbers is not to reduce murder rates or suicides or crime in general. The goal is to make it safer for the Authoritarians to control the general population.

  You could have a million studies and investigations performed by the preferred groups of the controllers that said that gun ownership was the end all for decreasing murder and suicide and it would not reduce their desire to disarm everyone but the military and select law enforcement.

  • Indeed... and if looked at through the lens of intended future gun confiscation, the demagoguery; race baiting, class warfare, together with the deliberate increase in economic pressure by effectively creating through mandates sold on the premise of compassion a part time job society where simple day to day stress for those who value hard work and a job- and who also are far more likely to LEGALLY own a gun, the regime seems intent on flushing out more instances of "gun violence" in order to manufacture justification for confiscation and the overt nullification of the second amendment.

    Discussing ad nauseum the obvious fact that in light of demonstrable common sense relationship between high rates of gun ownership and low rates of violent crime, our government isn't going to solve any "problem" by restricting the second amendment essentially misses the point. It has been pointed out in this discussion that studies and statistics are moot, that it is fairly obvious to anyone willing to take in the bigger picture that our government's agenda has nothing to do with public safety or reducing "gun violence" but in exploiting as many such incidents as possible to build popular support for the repeal of the second amendment. The job of the "news" media is to keep the population fixated on isolated news stories delivered with a narrative that creates the convenient impression that there is an explosion of shootings which can only be reduced by cutting down the numbers of guns that can be legally owned. Anyone who thinks that the ultimate gun policy goal of this government is not to completely disarm its citizenry is deluded.

    Nothing happens in a vacuum and much has gone on concurrently with this open ended anti second amendment campaign... including the erosion of our rights to free speech, our liberty to move about as we please, our rights to equal protection under the law. Meanwhile the usurpers dressed up as criminals in congress; some painted blue and others painted red... to keep us monkeys fixated on the vitriolic partisanship charade scripted to fool each side of the coin to believe that they are being represented in order to keep the masses quelled while the erosion continues unabated. I'd wager that whatever the outcome of the upcoming election, the agenda will grind forward regardless.... it seems more than a bit odd that the so-called Republicans could stand up in force against Obamacare when none of their votes were needed for its passage, yet when the progressives lose their super majorities, enough so-called conservatives break ranks to ensure the snowball continues rolling. I'm not convinced that any meaningful change is going to occur through the voting booth regardless of the outcome.

    Unfortunately it seems predestined that the process is going to play itself out in its entirety because in all the discussion out there on so-called "tipping points" there's little devoted to the social tipping point where the population is as a whole unwilling to act in its own best interests because the demagogues have so ably practiced their art and the welfare statists have engineered enough dependence on government handouts that those who are voting for next week's benefit check are choking out those who are voting for next generation's liberty and economic security. The proverbial two wolves and one sheep have already voted on the dinner menu.

    When the jig is up and even the most compromised mentality will be able to comprehend what's going on it will be too late to do anything about it and do you actually think that anyone who has landed a seat of power through mainstream means of "legitimacy" (Republican, Democrat, astroturf third party) is going to go along with any honest study that justifies common people's right to bear arms against the building tyranny?

• This is similar to the Gary Kleck study from 1992, where he set out to prove a causitive link between guns and crime, and in the process found out that the opposite is actually true. Now it is one of the most quoted studies by the pro-2nd Amendment folks (this is where the 2.5 million Defensive Gun Uses per year figure comes from.) We're winning the honest ones over, one at a time.
