Have you heard about “The Obama phone”? No, it’s not a phone that plays Obama’s speeches repeatedly (at least, we don’t think it is.) If any of y'all actually bother to go look at the site itself, it seems to be a poorly-made amateur attempt to boost Lifeline, though I'm not sure to what end. Some bits seem to complain about the program, other bits excuse it as going back to Bush (of course) or even Reagan -- which would be a helluvan accomplishment.
The grammar is pathetic. It's hard to believe this site has any sort of "official" status, I'm guessing it is the effort of a semi-literate Sock Puppet phanbhoy who thinks he's helping.

Safelink Wireless, the largest cellphone provider of the Lifeline program and a subsidiary of Tracfone, was created under the administration of George William Bush which received grants from a company that was launched during the Bill Clinton’s time and it was done because of an act passed by President Franklin Roosevelt which in turn was influenced because of an agreement between President Woodrow Wilson’s administration and some telecom service providers. So you can realize that this free cellphone service has a pretty long history and the claim about the Obama phone is nothing but a false rumor.
In the FAQ link on that website there is a "who qualifies" question, which is answered by saying that anybody who benefits from ten other federal programs shown below are automatically qualified. I wonder how many people who "qualify" for the Obama phone are recipients of benefits from only one of the other programs. I'd venture to say very few, and in fact I'd be willing to bet that many who "qualify" are on damn near all of these program rosters.

This is actually worse because these programs have steadily crept up on us (by design) to the extent that those who live bwo of the fed assistance from all these programs are SO dependent on the benes that they can't comprehend anything different and to suggest something different is, to them, Un-American.

Lifeline program by the government. That's the one all the brainiac types pointed out was started by President Reagan, during the first death of democracy administration. So burock pipe has commandeered an existing program, stuck his ugly name on it and poof! He's like Reagan. See?

They're referring to their phone as the Obama phone, these people probably don't know what month the election is in.
