I don't know if the ref is an atheist or not. Most likely since he is definitely a dickwad and therefore a Democommie, or vice versa. I think it is the ref trying to draw attention to himself. Asshole.
I am now convinced that this no celebration rule is more about suppression of religious activity and expression than anything else...
