  • Basic economics aside, correct me if I'm wrong but don't most union collective bargaining agreements include escalater clauses that push up wages when the minimum wage is raised?

    If that is true, would it not follow the SEIU and other unions are the agitators exploiting the fast food workers in order to show their membetship they can deliver something to justify the dues?

    Yet the franchisees and business owners are the greedy ones. Right.

  • If you are still making minimum wage at the age of 30 and are not a person with a specials need, then you are a failure. You've failed to realize your potential. You've failed to be anything other than a drain upon society. If you expect the jobs and money to just fall from the skies or to grow upon trees, go and get two quarters. Put them in the ground and wait for that money tree to sprout up and start growing $50.00 dollar bills.

    When the cost of producing an item rides to high, innovative people find ways to reduce that cost. This is an excellent example of just that. Plus the machine doesn't need two days off, paid holidays, vacations and sick time. It does need some maintenance and then it's ready to go. So all you "burger flippers" just keep asking for those big dollars. You'll soon be able to find your artistic self.

    • The best thing is I can command $35/hr to repair these machines, and the burger places still save money!
      Yes, I have the experience and skills to do maintenance on these machines.

        • I see you offended some poor lazy greasetrap cleaner PJ49. I did electrical/mechanical trades for quite a while myself. I can't physically do it now and I miss it tremendously. Thanks to the marxist we have in office, there really is very little REAL jobs out there. I keep searching, maybe I'll get lucky.

  • Some how I would feel better with a burger made by R2D2 and sold by C3PO that some of what I see in restaurants nowadays.....

    • I like the morons that have plastic gloves on, then they handle money and leave them on, then they go back to making food and leave the same gloves on. I guess they think the gloves are to keep their hands clean and not keep the food sanitary.

      I also love the ones that go wash, then put a microscopic dab of soap, put their hands under the water for 2 seconds, then rub twice, then rinse for another 2 seconds and think their hands are clean.

  • Just keep raising that minimum wage and and striking for higher pay . This companies stock is probably highly correlated to the minimum wage.

    I'd actually have more sympathy if they got an order right every once in awhile.

    • Consider this, a police officer or a fireman make about $12/hr to start, and the cops need at least an AA in criminal justice, and firemen need to be either an EMT or Paramedic as well as a firefighter. So what these assholes are telling us is that they deserve more to say "You want fries with that?", and get it wrong, than a Cop, Firefighter, EMT, or Paramedic deserve to save your life!

    All efforts to engineer the economy or any part thereof, regardless of purpose or preferred theories of economics, will have unintended consequences, most often counter to the original intentions.

  • Expensive at first. It will pay for itself within a year or two. Only hire workers to keep it running. Done.

    Automated service is available in a lot of European fast food joints or at least the ordering part. People like it because they don't have to repeat their order or have language/accent issues one way or another.

    I saw a picture of many and actual men working the bowling alleys... then it seems that the union got involved... and of course now we have the machines taking care of business and pretty much two or three teens can man the joint... with an in an out supervisor...

    This is what happens when you believe that menial jobs should be jobs that you live on for the rest of your lives.
