High-school freshman suspended for having a picture of a gun

• it sucks when you only realize you're in the midst of a war when decades of it have already passed. I'm not hopeful.

• Does anyone else remember when you could find at least a half dozen pickup trucks in a high school parking lot with shotguns in the back window during hunting season?

  • I certainly can. And most male students had a pocketknife in their pockets.

  • And don't forget the folding Buck knives on the belt. In school none the less. Never any problems with them either.

    • Yea every guy had a knife, no mass stabbings either, no hostage taking, although a few creative guys carved their initials in a tree around the school.

  • That was my high school, farm kids always had a shotgun or varmint rifle in the window rack, nobody thought anything of it and amazingly enough there were NO mass murders in my high school, just some damn good hunters. If that happened today in California the state would request an air strike on the offending vehicle.....Ahh the more people I meet, the more I like my dog......

• The indoctrination by the public schools is out if control. It's time the parents demanded that schools return to the basics and stop with the political bull shit correctness.

  Until this stops we will continue to see ignorant actions such as this one. It's not okay to have a picture of an AK-47 and a flag but if you wish to have a picture of two men or two women engaged in gay sex. That's just fine. It's an expression if their 1st amendment. Hell if he had a picture of a female teacher having sex with him he would be given a Pulitzer Prize for photography

• I so wish that was my son. Talk about being rich! This is a first amendment violation-plain and simple. There must be a line a mile long, of civil rights attorneys offering to take this case on contingency.

• They wouldn't know what to do and all of their heads would explode,. and the gun would be blamed.

  • Or the"Paletinian" Flag. Since Palestine is not a country, it doesn't really HAVE an official flag. but you know what I mean.

• If this gun admiring freshman had posted the picture of Obama firing his shotgunrather than a Yugoslav AK-47 would the school suspend him or praise him for honoring the One?

• So by the same token can we turn students in for having a picture of "Dear Leader" hanging in the Gymnasium? (Especially during voting hours)

• AKs are such a great design. Maybe not real tack drivers, but very reliable and adequately accurate. This particular design, with the under-folding stock always made me wonder what happened to that thinking. The magazine must be removed in order to change the geometry, then re-locked. Silly, that.

  • Standard Soviet thought of the era: no, you're not driving tacks. You're sending a barrage of hot lead. Let off a short burst or two,and maybe only one round will connect, but that one will be enough!
