Holmes’ doctor warned police before Colo. movie attack. We can hear it now. Doctor: This guy’s a powder-keg waiting to explode! Police: We can’t do anything he hasn’t committed any crime. Us: It’s too bad someone wasn’t in that theater with a CCW and armed. Colorado: Let’s pass more gun laws the police can’t/won’t do anything about.

If three people agree that a person is crazy and there is no sense that there is a collusion (and if it not family members wanting to gain something from putting the person away) I dont see why people can't at least check it out
This guy could have and SHOULD have been stopped. This revelation is really damning. There ARE ways of dealing with people like Holmes.
Sort of like Loughner in Tucson? He creeped out many who knew him, & some tried acting, but his mother works for the local sheriff's dept, & kept him out of trouble.
BTW, the way to deal with people like this? OFF THEM. No question as to their guilt, rid the planet of their existance. Also, throw the jihadi Nadal Hassan (Ft. Hood) in that pile as well.

Thank you very much. I just did a trip to Winnipeg, drove up from the TwinCities. Went to an hockey game, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1. Very cool doing an NHL game in Canada, & that was Saturday. Did the zoo on Easter, cold as hell, & windy. The only animal that did'nt seem bothered was their new polarbear, Hudson. That's the 1 animal I wanted to see, 16 months old, & he is a good looking boy. He is already over 400 lbs, & growing. I also did a concert up there on Tuesday. Volbeat, who are a hard rocking metal act out of Denmark on Tuesday. Met the band before the show, got some autographs, took a few pics, & then drove back to the TwinCities to see them again the next night. Opening for Volbeat was Danko Jones from Canada, & Spoken, who are from Arkansas.

As our own Not so Silent can tell you this is a big problem in our cockaroach (lawyer) infested country. Cops cannot be proactive, only reactive.
As much as I am for personal freedom and severe restrictions on search and seizures there has to be a line somewhere. When there is an obvious problem with someone, especially when their own doctor reports it to law enforcement, cops should be allowed to use their head, their common sense, and try to do something to defuse the situation. Who knows what may have not happened if the law had been able to act on the information Holmes' psyco-therapist provided.
With HIPPA laws it is even harder to get needed information, Some places are so confused they stopped telling us if a shooting victim was even at the Hospital! mental health people where I work are more interested in eating popcorn and watching TV than helping us. It got so bad we would take people in, under arrest mind you, as a danger to themselves or others and they refuse to accept them or let them walk out the door! Then call us to report our nut case as a missing person! So the nut is free to walk and cause more harm. The mental health system in this country with all it's do-gooders who want to mainstream the mentally ill are the problem, a group hug DOES NOT solve everything. There are people who should be locked up for the benefit of society, Case in point was the Colorado crazy. Why on god's earth did the doctor not take it further? I can tell you, HIPPA laws and the liability the doctor would incur when doing this. Don't worry about gun owners, worry about their mentally ill relatives who have access to the guns.
I teach shooting for CCW permits and am a range master/firearms instructor. On more than one occasion, I have removed someone from the class because they were not well. And I follow up on it with relatives etc to make sure. Some people just can not handle a gun at any point in their life. They get a power trip or want revenge on someone for some real or imagined injustice done to them.
I have said it many times, but liberals with guns (As all the serial shooters of late have been) are scary. We need to reform the mental health system, not f*ck with peoples rights to own firearms.
And just a side note, a lot of times the people running the mental health facility are nuttier than the people we bring in. That is also scary!
