Gone with the wind? Hurricanes could destroy the offshore wind farms the US is planning to build in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. Yeah, but that means we’ll just have to re-build them again! Stimulus! Sounds like a feature, not a bug (unless you live somewhere where your power will be out for a few years until the wind farm gets rebuilt.)

Doesn't have to be a hurricane to take these things out, just 1 good Nor'easter will have the same effect, and they are a lot more common.

The problem is that green energy does blow. It does'nt work, & as long as oil, nukes, & coal work better & cheaper, & they do, green energy will be worthless. Which is why it needs to be propped by gov't, nobody with a brain would put their own money down on that crap.
You're forgetting that, because of Global Climate Catastrophe, there won't be any more hurricanes. No, wait, there will be many more hurricanes, and they'll be much more severe. But we should build the wind farms anyway because it would be unfair to BO's friends who are expecting a big payoff from these turkeys if we didn't. See...it's

I haven't heard of hurricane issues on the west coast. Maybe we should establish the green grid out there. Fill the bay in San Francisco with these puppies. No, that would disturb the harbor seals. Put them elsewhere...not in my backyard they shouted from the hills of San Francisco!!!!!

I'm wondering if any of these green energy rocket scientists have factored in the effects of saltwater on these units. Oh, never mind, they probably have...more stimuli. Not to mention the constant stream of boat traffic going to and fro to service these farms will have on the ecosystems in which they reside.

I'll try to keep this brief. I know you must be late for a Handfishin' session, or perhaps are planning to go to Walmart to purchase huntin' equipment.
Even if a hurricane hits these wind farms, it's a win-win, dummies.
More well-paid government employees, like myself, will be able to rebuild the windmills, as well as write wonderful reports about the rebuilding of said windmills. Perhaps there would be a chance for a documentary about this effort, thereby employing filmmakers and interpretive dancers.
Secondly, the destruction of the windfarms can be used as a reason to promote the climate change agenda, leading to... you guessed it! More well-paying government jobs!

I don't know if it's true, but I've been told that there has to be a conventional plant in idle mode able to spring into action if and when these windmills go down. I'm also told that the plants in idle mode put out more CO2 than a coal fired plant running at capacity.
