I still back Obama’ – but from the sidelines: Springsteen. When Springsteen entered the arena of political commentary he cemented his validity by stating that he had an integrity and it was tied to the fact that he had gone 25 years without such commentary. Being that it had been nearly so long since he’d put out a decent album -and such fabled integrity could not be applied to his artistry- we thought it might be all the better if the Boss just shut up and counted his money. We still do. Although with Obama era inflation there is probably a good bit less of it now than there was just three years ago.

What I'm seeing is maybe Springsteen took enough sh!t from fans who grew tired of his political activism. He saw it might be bad for buisiness, his buisiness. He's a lib, I get it, but the very same dorks who love the fact that Bruce, Babs, the Foo Fighters, & the rest of them are die hard dems who perform at private DNC fundraisers were among the 1st to bash Megadeth founder & leader Dave Mustaine when he said he wants to see Santorum as President. These people have hated Ted Nugent forever as well for standing up for his constitutional rights.

I just saw Dave & Megadeth last Tuesday night, Valentine's Day. Great show & a fun time. They were with Motorhead, Volbeat, & Lacuna Coil for Gigantour.
Everyone here said exactly what I wanted to say about 'the Boss'. I've listened to R&R for 35+ years and have a 350+ LP collection. No Springsteen whatsoever. Always thought he was overrated. Just a wannabe tough guy from Joisy that wears wife-beater t'shirts and sang like he had a baseball bat up his ass.

PS-Springsteen's "music" sucks balls--always has. Any time "The Boss" starts warbling on the classic rock radio station, it gets turned to another station immediately. His voice reminds me of a cat in heat.

Well, I guess you had to grow up in Jersey to appreciate his stuff. For me, his old music is a chronicle of my youth. He painted a vivid picture with his lyrics. Even if you don't like his voice, read the lyrics to Thunder Road, Sandy, and Rosalita and see if you don't agree with me on that point.
I'm not defending his politics, just some of his music.

I agree with the three of you. I never got the Bruce Springsteen love. That one song that I like that I heard on the radio was for the beat, if someone else had sang it would have been better. That other song Streets of Philadelphia was horrible because he mumbled like a drunk during the whole thing.
I've never been a fan of his music or his lousy voice. When he went political it just made his bad qualities worse, IMO.
Springsteen is an idiot, a lousy musician, and looks like he's been at an OWS rally for six months. Irrelevant.

I have been a Bruce fan since the beginning. I attributed Nebraska and Tom Joad to poor judgement.
Now that he has become obviously political, I have noticed something. When he does a concert, his new music doesn't get nearly as enthuastic response as the old stuff. The crowds keep shouting for Jungleland, 10th Ave Freeze-out, and Born to Run, but nobody is calling for the new stuff.
Maybe he should listen to his fans and stop with the BS and get back to the feel good party music that we all fell in love with.
