If I wanted America to fail… Well, some insane person told us to keep doing the same things we’ve been doing and expect a different result. Did we say “some insane person”? We meant “Barack Obama.” (Irony intended.)

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

    • Because they are the ones who live their lives watching soap operas, reality TV, game shows, taping on their i-phones, sending text messages, updating their my buttface pages and playing the various lotteries. They receive their incomes from taxpayers and have never worked a day in their lives, most of them got started in their families business by doing as their mothers did, lying on their backs and getting pregnant, it's called generational welfare and yes I believe that it is the new family business in some of the sub-cultures in America today. Which brings me to another point, when I was a kid immgrants were expected to assimilate into the American culture not group up in little enclaves of their own. (like Dearborn Michigan) Immigarnts were proud to FINALLY be able to call themselves Americans. Now they come here, get a temporary residency status and sign up for government handouts. I really truly miss America, the America we had before everybody in this country decided for one reason or another they had to hyphenate their status here. That just being an American wasn't unique enough anymore, it wasn't good enough to be an American every person had to be SPECIAL. I guess we can thank the educators in this country for that, after all they are the ones who developed the concept of self esteem first.

      • I get your point, but I had to give you a thumb down forblaming women for all out ills. As far as enclaves, while being an American was Highly regarded, and learning English was preached by every immigrant parent, go to anywhere on the East coast to find Italian, Portugese, and Jewish enclaves. Go to Middle America and find the German enclaves, including the Amish and Mennonites. Go to California and see China town in San Francisco (which for years had the largest Jewish population outside New York.) Come to my neck f the woods, where still today we have people who have lived in America for generations, but still speak Spanishj, German, Check, French and Greek. Everybody has had enclaves. The difference was they viwed coming to America as a move up, and were grateful for the opportunity offered here. They knew they wouldstill have to work, but they felt here they COULD work for waht they wanted, and there is evidence all over the US that most did just that.

        • I meant enclaves in the manor of no outsiders welcome. If you don't have the same background and ethnicity stayaway. Or seculsionist neighborhoods.

          • Go to an Italien family and tell them their daughter wants to marry a Black. Or an Irishman. I'll show you exclusionary! LOL

          • sa_rose, I guess I'll just have to spell it out for you since you still don't understand what I'm trying to say. I'm talking about muslims, they don't want anyone other than a muslim in their neighborhoods, that is why I said "LIKE DEARBORN MI" muslim city council, muslim police department, I'm not sure if they've graduated all the way to muslim fire dept. or not yet. Make some time for a visit to Detroit and while you're there try and take a drive through Dearborn an all muslim community and see how you get treated.

          • I have "gotten it" all along. I am saying that much of what Muslims are being condemned for now, other cultures did and are doing today. Besides. Muslims aren't exclusionary. They universally hate everyone, including other Mulsims, and want them all gone so that their "neiighborhood" is the world. Aren't you the flake that called me a card carrying flaming liberal? I watched your video, and I agree that the Muslims there were something less than welcoming. But if I went to a Mexican American neighborhood in my town with a sign saying Catholicism was nothing more than magic, or carried signs against illegal immigration, I would not get out alive. I think Robert for one can back me on this. It is wrong no matter who is doing it. These Christians, while indeed exercising their right to free speech were absolutely there to incite Muslims. And got just what they wanted on film, Congratulations. You have just convinced a great many people that 1) Christians are stupid 2) they attack other religions 3) they incite violence 3) they place themselves in risky positions, then blame the neighborhood. While I realize none of this is true, that is how it comes across.

          • That any Mexcan American neighborhood here would likely shoot me if I came with with signs and pamphlets saying Catholicism was magic or if I brought in some anti illegal immigration materials.

            I could add this though: Once, when i was a mere tyke, no more'n knee high to a jackrabbit, the family was traveling by car through Texas in the '60's or '70's, and I recall my dad saying that he remembered when (the town we were driving into) had a sign posted at the city limits which stated, "Near don't let the sun set on your black behind."
            And I couldn't understand it, but then my earliest memories are of Panama where EVERYONE not on base housing or in the American enclaves were black. I did know that Near meant black, and it was a word we were allowed to use only when speaking of brazil nuts, or eenie meenie miney moe games.

  • We all know this current administration is based on failure, but is it due to incompetence? Or is it a deliberate act, in order to institute European style socialism ?
    I'm placing my bets on the socialism.

    • Obama might be going along with it due to sheer idiocy or because of necessity (pact with the devil)... But the forces behind him, the ones REALLY driving what is going on, are doing it deliberately.

    • I have been asking myself the same question. Even if Obamie is an idiot fool, something dark and sinister drives him and others that knows exactly what he or they are doing.

    • I do not know who this man is, but this man was a prophet. I have listened to a lot of Reagan speeches he was also a prophet even if he himself was not aware of it. Every single thing he said is happen or has been happening for decades now.

      • Paul Harvey was the original God-fearing, America-Loving, talk-radio host. Used to listen to him in high school during my driver's ed driving outings.

        • We need more people like him. In many ways I think Glenn Beck is doing it but unfortunately he has been labeled a crazy man.

        • We lived in Colorado, and my Dad would listen to the radio from WOAI in SAN ANTONIO every night to listen to Paul Harvey.
