Issa puts wiretaps detailing official knowledge of gunwalking tactics into Congressional Record. “…the wiretap applications contained a startling amount of detail about the operation, which would have tipped off anyone who read them closely about what tactics were being used.” Well don’t think of it as gunwalking, think of it as a tax. Audio proof of his ATF agents telling gun shop owners to violate the law? Kinda looks bad for him. We know that the Justice Dept refuses to prosecute the turd, so we'll have to wait for Romney to appoint a new AG to get the job done.
I am a bit confused. I am not sure if what I read was just poorly written or what, but I don't quite get it. After reading three different sites, I think that what has happened is that Issa has wiretap applications that DOJ made for the straw purchasers, but isn't the whole crux that DOJ set up the straw purchasers to buy and walk the guns?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I despise Holder, but if the whole case against him is that DEA and/or DOJ didn't arrest or stop criminals who were buying guns on their own, that's a WHOLE lot different than if law enforcement was actively recruiting straw purchasers.
I really hope that is not the case, because that becomes just plain incompetence and negligence. Which, I personally suspect that every single program/plan/department in the government is rife with.

THANK YOU! That was much clearer! OK, I feel better about this. So, the straw purchasers were actually NOT operatives? Or maybe they were kind of, but they personally didn't know that they were?
I recall that several gun shop owners in TX and AZ were told by government officials to sell the guns, even though the buyers didn't meet the proper guidelines, or something. That would fit. If DEA/ATF or whatever agency told them to sell the guns, the buyers might not even really have been aware that they were "helping" the law.

They have the gun shop owners on tape calling the ATF to cite concerns, and the ATF telling them they had it under control; to sell the bad guys the guns. Then the ATF had no intention of keeping track of those guns, hoping something would happen. The they could blame the shop owners and try to get more gun controls on the books. A sort of back-door repeal of the 2nd Amendment, only it has blown up in their faces.
