Jeopardy contestants can’t identify MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow

Jeopardy contestants can’t identify MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Guess they don’t watch the MSNBC cartoon channel, like just about everyone else in the country. Shocking.

  • For someone who supposedly doesn’t watch TV you are very sure you know all about the different news media, what they report and why. In another comment you even stated you have seen “Faux” news on the internet. Well that means you intentionally went to that site to read/view their story.

Yes, of course I did. I'm not going to make observations about it without being sure I've got my facts straight. Do you have a problem with that for some reason?
    ***************
Since you are not seeing the full extent of what they report, and how they report it, you are in no position to judge their overall reporting.
    *****************
Actually, I am. One doesn't have to watch "Plan 9 from Outer Space" from beginning to end to recognize that it's a bad movie----it's apparent the moment those hubcaps on strings, intended to look like flying saucers, appear on the screen. It's the same with half truths, propaganda techniques and flat out lies.
    *****************************
The MSM ( ABC, NBC, CBS) all appear on the TV unbidden. Your option is to turn the set off, since they all broadcast at the same time, so one cannot avoid them by simply changing the channel (well, maybe cable or satellite subscribers could. I have neither.) Just because they are on all the time, dosn’t mean they are fair or balanced.

I made no comment here about the above stations, Rose, either pro or con. It would seem that some of you are a bit uncomfortable with discussing the FOX News tendency to distort, the way you keep trying to deflect.
    *******************
The choice if what AMERICAN based stories they run is part of the bias.
    ********************
Well, duh, Rose. That's true of ALL news shows----and, as I already pointed out, it will always be true in a system where the media are 100% profit driven.
    *******************
Of course, I don’t expect you to acknowledge the obvious. We had a sermon yesterday on denial-and how it is a path to mental illness.
    ***************
Denial is a perfectly normal human defense mechanism, Rose, and one of the most common. I don't know who preached that sermon to you, but, while a pattern of denial can certainly cause problems in one's life, there is zero evidence that it leads to mental illness.

And, after all, it's you, not I, who are doing the denying here. I merely pointed out that FAUX News has a pattern of lying and manipulation, and you came barging in to try to do damage control---by accusing me of not watching it enough; by dropping silly hints about mental illness, and by deflecting to other news outlets that weren't even being discussed.

    • A psychistirst turned priest gave the sermon. He pointed out that continual denial of truth and reality would lead to mental disease. I agree.

    • Wow another visit from princess bedpan...I think I need some alcohol. Maybe intoxicated I can understand what the hell she is talking about, cause sober she makes no sense

        • That's where I am heading..A couple of Olievia's post and my head hurts, if that's gonna happen I might as well start with the enjoyable part of a hangover...

  • Truth or validity of her political positions? Truth and validity from the mainstream press?

Yeah, they are just full of it.

When a news source presents a political issue in such a way that you can't tell which (if any) side they're on, that is an example of truth and validity.

When they present both (or all major) sides of an issue, both positives and negatives, that, too, is a sign of truth and validity.

When the viewer goes away with new insight, rather than just a smug validation of his own beliefs, that is also a sign of truth and validity.

I agree that bias can easily creep into the news, especially if there's no regulatory agency, but I have to laugh a bit at anyone who watches FAUX News accusing any other news outlet of bias. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black........ :D

The day is not long enough to post all the stories the MSM is ignoring, refusing to validate, or just plain twisting.

What you're failing to take into account is that, when the media are 100% profit driven, they're going to focus on stories that their readers or viewers want to hear, rather than those that are likely to be of high political import. Hence, most (not all) news outlets virtually ignore international news (except incidents in which the U.S. military or government plays a starring role), and focus rather heavily on what would more properly be called gossip and scandals.

That's one very big reason I don't depend on television as a news source.

    • "When a news source presents a political issue in such a way that you can’t tell which (if any) side they’re on, that is an example of truth and validity."

So you do admit that MSNBC is NOT an example of truth and validity. Ok. I agree with you.

I already stated that the MSNBC network has a distinct liberal bias, Flash.

Do you have the courage and honesty to say the same about FOX News?

  • I guess it never occurred to you loons that not everyone in the United States watches TV, huh?
I guess it never occurred to you, either, that whether or not someone recognizes Rachel Maddow by sight has nothing to do with the truth or validity of her political positions?
Ask yourself this: why would you even care if some total stranger on TV doesn't recognize her face?

    • Truth or validity of her political positions? Truth and validity from the mainstream press?

Yeah, they are just full of it.

  • The Right's ultimate revenge = contestants on television's premier-game-show-for-genuises having no clue who one of conservatism's "chief" critics is.

    This heartens me.

      • And this is a VERY flattering picture!
        *****************
It's very telling that you loons can't come up with any real professional criticism of her, and are forced to crow about her physical features and sexual orientation instead.

It's also very telling that you, a woman, think it's funny to scorn a woman political analyst, simply because she's not pretty or sexy enough for the men on this board.

(And they wonder why I call them gullible......)

        • I don't ever hear Ms Maddow, since I don't get cable. I was responding to the above comment that she looked like a teenaged boy. I have seen MANY pictures of her, and this IS a very flattering picture. Why would you assume that was a negative comment? Projecting again?

  • Don't any of you find it funny that some parents would name their son Rachel ?---- wink , wink which is diferent than oink , oink

    • YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eye Bleach! I need Eye Bleach now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
