They could always find someone to crack the phone, they just wanted the legal precedent for it. They failed in that respect.
Exactly. This is always about stepping stones.
I am not sure this was about Apple's security. A child could have done it I am sure. This was more about the government asking a private company to create something that the company didn't want to create. It is not a private company's prerogative to make the government's job easy or to do something against their policies or their creative process to make the government's job easy. I am sure that many are going to say "National security" and "Patriotism", but the truth is that this was government overreach. They could ALWAYS get this cracked, they just wanted a shortcut created by the company. The company can say yes if they want to, but if they say no that should be the end of it, and the government then hires professionals to do what they need to do.
Well this is disturbing news. Apparently private property means nothing to this government. If they want something, they hack in and take it.
No, there's thing called a search warrant. Which isn't even needed in this case, since the owners are dead.
Actually, it's neither.
The phone belongs to the county, and they issued it to the Jihadi. Nobody around to complain about invasion of privacy when the government is the owner.
They hired a 12 year old hackers to break the code.
