Apple must have miss the payments to the "right" people. The same happened to Microsoft. Out of a sudden it was a monopoly and it was bad and not enough taxes being paid and whatever. Once Bill started making the right payments and connections all of that went away. I wonder why Apple is not playing the game, I would have thought it had all this time.
You're right Kimmy, this whole dust up about Apple's not paying enough taxes is an extortion attempt on the part of Congress. I'm sure if Apple made some judicious contributions to the right Congressmen, this whole issue would go away.
It makes me think that Steve Jobs probably had "his people". I wonder if he forgot to say something to the new people in charge or he probably didn't want to say anything to muddy his legacy. All in all this is all a game.

Apple's a greedy corporation, of course they don't want to pay taxes.
And of course the gov't is greedy & thinks that taking 70% - 80% of what you earn would be acceptable. Not that you would know anything about EARNING money.
Zo's solution is to get rid of the 16th amendment have a fair tax system or a single tax system. Also do not have the govt take their pound of flesh first, the tax must come out of one THING only either on products that we buy or sell or something that we send out yearly. Seriously it is insane that the govt doesn't even allow you to get all of the money that you earned in the first place. It is theft.
Or just bring to light the fact that the sixteenth was not only never ratified, but it also didn't rescind the previous law making the income tax unlawful. Look at every other amendment that changed a previous law. They all named that law, and specifically rescinded it. Not the sixteenth.

I've been filing income tax returns since 1968, I always seek to minimize the tax I pay, taking advantage of whatever deductions, exemptions and loopholes the Tax Code might grant. What I do is perfectly legal and what Apple does is perfectly legal. The real hypocrisy is the Congress criticizing a successful corporation for adhering to the tax laws that the Congress itself wrote into law!
Ruben has it right though. Corporate taxes are paid for entirely by the end consumer, just as all other taxes are. The government puts the responsibility for collecting those taxes on corporations, so that we don't see it being taken from us.
Exactly. In essence making the corporations another IRS/Collection Company. We pay those fees that make no sense and in some cases when we call to complain the company essentially tells you the truth, it is a govt tax that they are forced to take from consumers. It is insane but it is a reality. Socialism is expensive. The beast demands his pound of flesh.
The whole nation would be better off without corporate taxes. Let's move to a national 11-cent sales tax NOW!

apple pays what it was suppose to, in this case 6 Billion dollars, GE on the other hand who obama has a relationship with paid nothing. Than this idiot do nothings complain that they need more, how about getting an actual job and paying taxes instead of being paid by taxes
