Prediction: Obama will be reelected and may go down in history as one of our greater presidents, the kind that start the nation on a new and lasting tack.
FDR did that. Reagan did it. Obama may do it -- to the great chagrin of most denizens of this blog.
Then what I said in my previous post will take on even greater poignance.

Obama will be exposed in a major way after his ass is out of The White House. We will find out that his regime was way more corrupt then even we know right now. We will also find out how him & his wife abused the public's trust of the office. Things like what was spent on entertainment, travel, vacations, & other wasteful spending. We will also see how poorly they treat those who are to serve the First Fanily. This is unquestionably the least classy group of people who have been in The White House, & history will not be kind, & won't be whitewashed.
All of that will be on top of how sh!tty his performance as President has been. His presidency has been disgraceful & abusive. It will get worse as election day approaches.

In any case Obama is a on a class on his own. I think it is high time to stop comparing him to people. Not even Carter deserves the comparison anymore.

Nice try Jimmy but a more apt comparison for Obama might be James Buchanan, Jimmy Carter or (on a good day) Warren G. Harding. Lincoln's life was one of hardship and struggle whereas Obama has had doors opened and paths smoothed. Lincoln was the real thing, Obama is Mr. Plastic, an empty suit.

He came out of of practically nowhere and the one business he partly owned failed, so he then ran a small frontier general store and served as a crossroads postmaster. He studied and became a moderately successful lawyer, though much of the bookkeeping was done by his partner. He ran for state office but did not get it. Later he did become a US Congrssman, but withdrew from politics because he had taken an unpopular stand against the Mexican war. Ultimately he tried to become US Senator, but did not get his party's nomination. He enacted no famous legislation, never ran a state or a city, and he had almost no military experience.
He was a good orator, however, and he dazzled the public on the subject of slavery, so he became the executive of the biggest enterprise in the world during a time of perilous, threatening civil war.
He was in over his head, but he did rather well.
It’s odd because Truman was so inexperienced compared to Obama. I mean Truman was a captain in the army during WWI, ran a business which failed during the Great Depression, was a Senator for many years as well as Vice President. I mean, Obama was a community organizer and managed his campaign (sorta.) How can one compare the two?

I mentioned this in the last thread that made the Truman/Sock Puppet comparison, but it is worth repeating. Truman too was obsessed with a national health care system, and worked hard to come up with something to get through Congress. As it happened, the Korean War broke out and diverted his attention (and our national resources), and the scheme passed away peacefully.
On the plus side, Harry "Gave 'em Hell" when he broke a nationwide railroad workers strike which was threatening to seriously disrupt the whole economy. He informed the unions that in the case of national emergencies such as that, the Federal government could seize control of the railroads and use Army personnel to operate them. However, he wasn't sure the Army could spare the men to do that. Solution: Monday morning, all you strikers are DRAFTED!!!
They settled the strike before Harry even finished giving this speech!
He maintained the long standing tradition of presidents not allowing public unions to form. That dishonorable deed was a JFK maneuver.
It's true, Obama is no Harry Truman. Truman was ten times the man Obama could ever hope to be. So who is Barack Hussein Obama? I think he's the intellectual lovechild of Bill Ayers and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
