I can't ever imagine myself cheering a murderer, but I have to say that I kind of feel really sorry for Dorner, if what he says is true.
If he really witnessed another cop abuse a prisoner and reported it, and then had his entire life destroyed because of it, I can see why he would be frustrated. He says that he died the day they threw him off the force. I can image how traumatic that would be if he was telling the truth. And I believe he WAS telling the truth.
That said, he is killing people who had nothing to do with what happened to him. My guess is that he has completely lost it over the past few years, and his hatred is so deep and so strong, that he just wants to hurt as many people as he possibly can.
Here's how far my sympathy extends: I hope they put a bullet in his head to put him out of his misery quickly. So he doesn't have to live in jail as an ex-cop for the rest of his life.
Dohner has written himself into a Steven Seagal movie. "The Narrative" has become so strong through the omnipresent media these days that a large fraction of the population can only relate to news that's been turned into some kind of morality play. They aren't interested in inconvenient facts that get in the way of a good story.
