• Sounds like nothing more than two rounds got way off target. The guy was a pilot, he knew JetA wasn't going to ignite by striking the tank with a bullet.

  • Jet fuel is kerosene, right? Not as ignitable as gasoline?

    • Yup. Highly refined kerosene. Avgas, 100 octane is much more flammable. I still don't believe a bullet could cause a 'movie stunt explosion' if he shot a tank of it either. A .50cal tracer from that range still doesn't ignite it IMO. I don't believe you're going to get enough o2 at the source of fuel and ignition. Maybe a half full tank, hit with a 50cal tracer on top of the tank does it? Still an iffy proposition to me. I think a couple got away from him; or possibly someone else shooting back in panic.

• Seems that there's several layers to the events from Sunday.

• Are they trying to tell us that he had NO idea of the effectiveness of .223 rounds, at that distance, or that the tanks might be something thicker than tinfoil?

  • May have used the 308 and at that distance it would've lost energy and impact
