The writer articulates what we have all been saying here for years. Raises a question. Why didn't we buy the lies so many otherwise intelligent people have? The Prisoner of Zenda analogy might be a partial explanation but I also believe that people (especially white progressives) wanted "it"ALL to be true to absolve their white guilt. The rest didn't matter as long as they could ease their consciences. I'm just speculating but I think it is interesting that the polarized view of the President is as extreme as it is. The result of the opposite but equal forces of protecting and exposing the same lie.

Well, I'm pretty sure a lot of us already had that very same impression because we've been listening to people like Ambassador Alan Keyes. We certainly don't expect the media to do its job and report on it though.
The media is far too invested in the lie to expose it now because in doing so they'd be exposing themselves as criminally complicit. The big lie that is Obama has been enabled, supported, and engineered by political machinery that was already long been impugned but voters collectively chose to believe it in hoping that Obama would be something he has long proven himself not to be.
