• Hey, you medical people, does this make any sense at all?

  Infection and immunity expert Dr Matthew Avison, of University of Bristol, has revealed the outbreak in east Africa is likely to become more serious before the "crisis" ends. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, Dr Avison said because the disease is “extremely rare” it has been “resilient” to antibiotics. “Because this disease is extremely rare, it doesn’t get exposed to antibiotics that often,” he said. “That means it’s more resistant to antibiotics and the risk of death is higher.”

  Why is so much pure unadulterated bullshit being printed about this epidemic? Diseases don't get "more resistant" when they are not exposed to antibiotics! It's just the opposite! WTF? Every single article I read on this epidemic is so full of nonsense I can barely stand to read it.

• They need to start confiscating bodies and cream sting them. No more dancing with the dead. No more plague.

  • "Cream sting?" Is that something kinky, medical terminology, or an autocorrect error?

• I thought it said plaque death. Just in case make sure you floss.

• There sure seems to be a lot of confusion about what disease is causing this. Plague is easily treatable with antibiotics and I can't believe that even Madagascar, poor as it is, can't handle plague. And some people (by which I mean stupid journalists) are calling it Black Death which we don't really know the cause of so that's just irresponsible hype. And then I've read that what's happening on the mainland is Marburg disease which is a worse form of Ebola. I know Africa is for the most part an entire continent of incompetent governments but sheesh! can't they at least get a diagnosis right? How are we supposed to help them if they can't even identify the problem?

• Interesting map - why isn't Somalia included in the high risk area? Maybe Muslims are immune to plague.
