You know what? If the contract the train guy signed didn't say anything about no American Flags, he can tell the mall manager to go F himself.

Why hang the American flag on something that was probably made in China?

He needs to check out the proper way to display it vertically though.
When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left.
I noticed that, I assumed there is an American Flag on the other side as well, which would make sense why it was positioned like that. Also there is a flag in the background, if it's against a wall it is also displayed wrong, if it's not against a wall, that's a strange place for a flag.
The union should be "forward" when moving - such as on military uniform right shoulders - although the flag is not generally hanging down in those situations. However, the flag code also tells us: The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. So it would still be a good idea to mount it better - on a pole on the right front of the engine perhaps.
I agree, it just looks improper.
The Clakamas mall is owned by a company located in Chicago.

pursuant to my previous comment, and having read the update before that, I'd like to amend my stance. Everyone should march around the mall, singin God Bless America wearing and carrying, um, U.S. Flags. just kinda spontaneous like.
