Massachusetts principal calls off Honors Night because it could be ‘devastating’ to students who missed mark

• Must be Harrison Bergeron High School.

• It sounds stupid, and it largely is, but don't over-conclude here. He's not getting rid of honor rolls or generally recognizing achievement, this was, apparently, a major event set aside from the rest of the year for the sole purpose of recognizing the honors students. Not that I think there's anything wrong with that, just saying don't draw more from the story than is there.

  Wonder though, if he'd pull a night like that for the athaletics teams.

  For these people, you could have ended it right there.

• Nice that you put this right after the "UK schools ban best friends" story. The philosophy is the same: don't strive for anything that risks disappointment.

• The stupidity of this is astounding, but then this is Massachusetts. I think they should dissolve the Red Sox. After all, the baseball games have to be devastating to the men and women who worked hard but simply didn't have the ability to make the team. And lets not forget those that may have had the ability but didn't want to work as hard, lets not forget their self esteem.
  Why is this asshole the principal? It's got to be devastating to people who wanted that job but missed the mark. It's not fair I tell ya, and the government better do something about it.
