Message to the "chilling effect" crowd, i.e., the press.
You crowed how restricting gun rights does not restrict anyone's gun rights.
You crowed how restricting freedom of speech in campaign finance reform does not restrict anyone's freedom of speech. Besides, we don't have the right to yell "fire" in a crowded theater (never mind that that is not a speech issue, but one of property rights, but that is a separate debate).
You crowed how restricting peoples' property rights with wetlands, beach access, view regulations and restrictions on development does not really encroach on anyone's property rights (you still OWN the property ...).
When we said that the bigger problem with all of the above and other examples like that are really a problem of precedent, you called us extremists or paranoid.
Well, how're you feeling about this? After all, no one is restricting your freedom of speech! It's all about ensuring a proper level of responsibility! You can still write anything you want, it's just that someone in gov't will have to approve it to ensure ... you know ... that no one ... you know ... is offended. Yeah, that's it. That way the license can be revoked when they say or do stupid shit like this. No need for an election. Just a license review board. Someone needs to tell the press that "freedom of the press" only applies to an actual hand-crank-operated printing press, not to TV, radio or internet.
