Merry Christmas from Sheila Jackson-Lee. On December 18, the Houston congresswoman, eager to get back to Washington and vote against the tax cut, pushed her weight around and managed to bully United into giving her some other woman’s first class seat, bumping the woman back into coach.

According to other passengers who have flown with her before, the congresswoman, who calls herself a queen, does stuff like this all the time. Continental actually called her once and told her if she didn't straighten up her act they wouldn't let her fly on their airline anymore. The only thing different this time is she ran into a woman who wasn't going to lie down and take it.

The woman used thousands of miles to get that seat. United is gross. They "apologized". I want to hear that: They refunded all of her points back into her account, giving her a year open ended first class seat anywhere in the US including Hawaii and Alaska and REFORMS so they never do this again.
Put her in the cargo hold, give her a sandwich and a bottle of booze, the only way to fly for SJL.
Much as I despise sjl, I have to side with her. This woman canceled her trip. The fact that she had a printed ticket means dick. She prints before heading to the airport, then canceled. Just another bunghole looking for free airline $$$.
Why would she cancel the last leg of a trip home from Guatamala? If you were going to cancel, you'd cancel the whole trip, not the last leg of the trip. What, she decided she wanted to live in the Houston airport for the rest of her life?
My guess is she inadvertently canceled it through the app or she might have canceled it and started looking for another way home.
I work for United and can assure you, if our agent is responsible for this, she is gone. If the black flight attendant had anything to do with it, she is gone too. The computer does the upgrades and bumps automatically and any/all manual overrides in the system are reviewed and scrutinized under a microscope. All of them. It was a problem at one time, with gate agents taking care of their friends and family by bumping passengers around. The new United is such a nazi company, they even put cameras in the planes to catch us grabbing a soda from the bar carts.
If it turns out that the agents did something wrong, the company will terminate the people responsible and put out a memo telling us what happened. Despite their anal retentive management style, they do communicate openly with us.
Now SJL immediately tossed the race card in the ring. Saying "we looked like easy targets" for being black. For that she is and will always be a racist cvnt in my book. But that's all she knows. It has served her well all these years.
Here's the thing, and I can only speak for what I would have done in the congresswoman's place. If I learned that somehow I had bumped a woman out of her seat, I would have immediately rectified the situation and made it right by switching seats with the woman. And if the government was paying my fare I would have told the woman, "Don't worry about it. Keep your $500 refund, enjoy your first class seat, and Merry Christmas."

And United had the nerve to lie and say they simply couldn’t find the ticket (which she had printed out) in the system. It just shows that the Dems don’t actually care for us peons!
Put yourself in United's shoes. Do you want an insane Congress Critter pissed at you? Personally, I would have just made a commercial out of it, touting my decision to make her ride outside on the wing. But then, that's probably why I'm not a CEO.
