What a day! We didn't make 40, only 37 were here for Moms Christmas party. From me, the oldest, to the great grand children, moms house was like a scene from Animal House today! I fried two turkeys, we had ham, mashed taters, cornbread dressing, a couple of gallons of giblet gravy, all the other dishes in abundance. I couldn't even hide for a few minutes in my house to suck down a couple of shots of pick me up, a couple of nieces invaded my kitchen for more stove and oven space! Good thing I had a bottle of Fireball hid in my pickup for emergencies or my brothers would have been mad at me. lol
I hope everyone here at IHTM had a wonderful a Christmas as I did, may God bless each of you.
It was great. Mom is getting pretty frail so we started this family reunion thing a couple of months ago. We wanted her to have Christmas with all her sons and as many family members as possible.
Part of the party is all us boys needed to get together and discuss a few things. Mom is getting dingy and it's getting harder for me to take care of her. We talked about what each could afford so I can get some home healthcare for her to help me out, our mother will never see some old folks place she will die in her home as it should be.
We came up with a good amount each of us can afford each month now I have to start calling Social Security to see what they will do then work from there. Come hell or high water our mother will not die alone and forgotten in some home for the elderly.
Wheeled my dad out this evening with the announcement, "Everybody say Merry Christmas to a man experiencing his one hundredth Christmas!" Try to imagine that. Think about how different the world was at the time of his first Christmas... in 1919.
