Not good enough for NFL, Michael Sam trolls Catholic Church. That’s him inside St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican proposing marriage to a man. The picture was posted to Twitter as “an act of defiance.” Or something. Since he’s not Catholic we’re not sure who he’s supposed to be defying.

How defiant is it to be gay in a place where priests have been gay for over 2000 years, i don't know... (no offense to RC's. plenty of str8 priests out there with women as partners. you're welcome. i gotcha covered. LOL.)
And the Catholic church doesn't exactly hate gays. They just feel.those urges should not be acted upon. The idea is that one can remain celibate, no matter what the sexual identity. Was that approach always workable? No, but thatvwas the theory. It had to do with discipline and sacrifice.

I was raised RC, was an altar boy too. Never experienced any of the abuse that was exposed years ago, but then, my father was very active in the church, and as an ex football player, at 6'3" 235lb, he wasn't one they wanted to mess with. I did find out later on in life that the "young cool" priest that was in charge of the altar boys when I was there, was later on charged with abuse. We had another priest that left the church to get married. All in all, you aren't really far off the mark, but then, priests are men, and as such fallible and subject to temptation. It has long been known that gay men entered the priesthood to hide from their "sins", and I'm sure many found each other there, but then, there were also many who did this only because of their faith. They are the ones I have the most respect for.
Yeah, just making silly fun of it, no offense, like i said. i did not personally get assaulted by any clergy (except Sr Margaret pulling me down the hall by my bandana once, which was more comical than anything, haha). but like you, i heard later in life, via parish gossip, about this one or that one getting caught and being sent away to some far-off New English or NY State town. Oh, and the nuns - well, they are human too. I heard from my lesbian "sisters" that there are some earth-mom type parties going on and such, you know... like your average Wicca friends might be interested in. LOL!!! Now THAT was a shocker. Ha!
