Michelle Obama: I Couldn’t Feed My Kids Right–Even with a Harvard Degree

Michelle Obama: I Couldn’t Feed My Kids Right–Even with a Harvard Degree:

“I thought to myself, if a Princeton and Harvard-educated professional woman doesn’t know how to adequately feed her kids, then what are other parents going through who don’t have access to the information I have?”

Come on Michelle, just because you’re too stupid to know how to feed your kids doesn’t mean you’ve any business starving ours.

  • Are you sure you even understand what’s being discussed here?

Funny questions from the queen of confusion.....

  • Jeebus effin xmas you sillyarse stupid twat, how much does it cost for someone to go to the dam library and check out a book on how to eat right? You don't need a behemoth government agency for this!

    • Who said anything about a "behemoth government agency," Psycho?

Are you sure you even understand what's being discussed here?

      • Are you trying to say that Harvard didn't have an affirmative action program in place at the time that Michelle was there? We can tell from her attempts at writing that she didn't actually qualify to go to college.

        • Not at all, Flash. What I'm saying is that only a very small percentage of applicants get into Harvard, affirmative action or no affirmative action. You're a blithering idiot if you think Harvard would have wanted or needed to admit poor students.

I feel sorry for you, you know. You've been fed so much racist crap from the anti-Obama propaganda machine that you've started to believe it. And you're so ready to believe it that you're spewing ignorant nonsense about one of the top rated universities on earth.

  • If a Harvard Graduate cannot figure out a basic healthy diet, she should ask for her tuition back with interest. granted, there are changes being suggested everyday for how to spiff up your nutritional intake. But anyone with 3 operating brain cells should be able to read a book or watch a kids tv show and figure out you need protein, lots of veggies, fruits and some dairy and grain. watch the sugars and try to eat less saturated fat. everything else sort of falls into place! As a Rule, Americans overeat, and eat a lot of less than healthy choices. Much of that is because of the development of premade, processed food during the 20th century, and a post WWII move toward uban living. But its . not rocket science.

    • Okay, Rose: first of all, you do realize, don't you, that dietetics is not a mandatory class for all undergraduate and graduate degrees?

You also realize, don't you, that there are many, many well educated people out there who aren't as familiar with the fundamentals of nutrition as nurses are? And that some of those fundamentals keep changing, so what was believed 20 years ago isn't necessarily accorded full credit today?

Face it: You're bending over backwards in search of an excuse to slam the First Lady. And that's silly. In what way do you see it as unreasonable for her to be concerned about the fact that many parents truly DON'T know how to feed their kids a nutritious diet?

By the way, healthy eating might not be "rocket science," but it's a lot tougher than it used to be, because a much higher percentage of foods sold today are preprocessed, and often contain ingredients that aren't the best. Add to that the existence of urban "food deserts," and it can be very challenging to feed a family properly.

By the way: I don't think Michelle Obama is particularly ignorant about nutrition. I think she's being tactful to those who don't know much about it, and feel embarrassed at their own ignorance. But, of course, you're eager to believe the worst about her, so you start out with the premise that everyone in the nation except Michelle Obama knows how to create nutritious meals, and has the means to do it. Which is just silly.

      • I know that anyone with a postgraduatedegreein ANYTHING, even basketweaving ,should have te senseto dresearch, read a fewbooks, and do a little critical thinking to put that infrmation into context and plan. a meal. I did take both nrmalandtherapeutic dietetics in college, and even worked a while in a hospital kitchen preparing diet trays. But after my transplant, when I developed insuling dependant diabetes, I read, researched, googled, all at the public library on current thought at dietary treatment in order to prepare for taking care of myself. If she can't do that, her education was wothless, and she should get a refund of any tuition she actually paid. I have taught peoplewith a 2nd grade education, who spoke little English, enough to get their diabetic numbers in line, so don't tell me how ignorant everyone is. That is a liberal falsehood, that if we disagree,we are stupid and need to be educated and "fixed"in our incorrect thoughts.

        • As I already pointed out to you, Rose, I'm sure that Michelle Obama DOES have a good understanding of nutrition. She's obviously very conscientious about her own health and physical fitness, for all the far right's efforts to cast her in some Fat Black Momma racist stereotype.

You're either very concrete headed, or very malicious, if you can't recognize what was obviously an effort to connect with her audience, many of whom might not be as confident as you claim to be about good nutrition. And let's not forget that there is much more to good nutrition than just counting food groups.

It's ludicrous to watch you people fairly turning handsprings to justify slamming the First Lady at every opportunity. Now she can't even empathize with people who find dietary principles confusing, without you jumping in to bitch about her university, and boast about your own dietary teaching prowess.

          • Yes, connecting with her audience. Those who pay attention to her. That would be welfare mothers, and ignorant leftists scattered across various professions, including bedpan cleaners.

I WOULD say TD,.............MO, but I'd rather make her look like the leftist, statist idiot that she is for a while, then TD.

          • Translation: "I can't refute her argument, so I'll just fling a lot of silly, childish accusations. I know! I'll mention bed pans. That's a really clever putdown, don't you think?"

      • Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...........................................You couldn't make a fucking point with a pencil sharpener..Why are you back? Did you get your lips unstuck from Rahms manhood? Get fired again?....Kill another patient in your pretend job at the pretend hospital? It is hard to understand how someone can be sooooooooooooooooo stupid as to not realize your are not only hated, but laughed at daily...but then you do support President Lady pants....The perfect liberal low intelligence/large forehead clinger to socialist party line...I believe they use to refer to that as a stooge....

        • Silent, you sound like some of the drunks we get in the ER, screaming insults at the staff and fancying that we're intimidated by it.

I ignore insults----that's grade school stuff. But, hey, if you really want to put me in my place, how about refuting what I'm saying on this issue?

          • You don't work in a hospital, You are a patient in one...a mental hospital, now I am done with your shit...goodbye scrunt, TD and MO from now on...

          • So am I to understand from this that you can't refute anything I'm saying here? ;>)

That's kind of what I'd guessed.

          • I make it a point never to debate the mentally retarded..they just get angry and post long bullshit paragraphs of talking points from a commie handbook....TD MO

  • Now days a college degree doesn't mean shit. You can get one in transgender goat studies, just how would that give you any common sense?...or teach you how to prepare meals? Maybe she should have taken a parenting class. Could you just see her being "Told" what to do?

  • We are in the best of hands.

No wonder our country is on such a steep slide into third worldness.

  • Or you could go the route my family uses and pack them a good lunch. Then keep them engaged in athletics, academics and provide an active lifestyle at home. Kids learn the right lifestyle choices from their parents, not the school lunch menu. There's that personal responsibility thing again...

    • No, that's what's called "having good, functional parents with the knowledge and means to give their kids every advantage."

Not all kids have that. In fact, American kids with two parents at home, at least one of whom has the time and funds to pack nice lunches each day and to foot the bill for kids' athletics, are in the minority.

And, by the way, it's a myth that kids absorb only what their parents teach them about nutrition. We have a multibillion dollar advertising industry in this country, that peddles junk food and overeating very aggressively. Why do companies pay advertising companies millions to create and air all those ads? BECAUSE THEY WORK.

Let's deal with the real world instead of roseate Norman Rockwell images, shall we? If you're such a big fan of Taking Personal Responsibility, how about Taking Personal Responsibility of the country you claim to love so much, and doing what you can to keep it great? Instead of blaming kids for their own problems at home.

    • I'm just going to ignore the arrogance of her statement. Chalk that up to her own parent's failure to properly instill humility and common courtesy in their wookie.
