I don't usually tell off-color jokes. Find most of them stupid. First time a child family member brings this up around me... I bring out the insensitive jokes just to goad them. Their very first grown-up lesson in self-thought. Don't let these idiots tell you what's right and wrong, kid.
I read the article and missed the part where she asked us to rat on family members. She just said to challenge them. I agree with her and do so when the occasion arises.
However, her challenge falls short. She needs to challenge the same kids to avoid music and the culture that uses the same type of language as well. Put Eric Holder to the task of financially destroying the "artists", producers and music that glorify niggahs, bitches and hos in every freaking track they put out. Stop the ghetto gangstah glorification and hero worship of this industry. Wanna call uncle Joe out for off color remarks? Let's call out fifty-cent while we're at it.
She says our schools are just as segregated as they were back before desegregation and she's right. That is not my fault, nor have I done anything to make it that way. That falls on the community itself and the people that have driven it into the ground with drugs, crime and not having a job. The American dream right? Move into a nice neighborhood, 2 cars and two kids. I got off my ass, put myself through school and got out of the crappy part of town. I worked to get my kids in a good school district with good schools that teach rather than serve as daycare. She needs to challenge the areas of which she speaks to desegregate from within.
