Their crews have probably already received TSA's Pre-check even though they won't need it.
Without flight plans filed, they won't be transpondered-thus, my only fear is they will take to the skies-fly among passenger jets, and cause active commercial jets to be hit by arrant heat-seaking missiles. Without transponders tied to flight plans they are sitting ducks....until they are flying among active aircraft.
This is very, very bad.
More disconcerting is them loading those planes with biological weapons and flying around the globe to cause pandemics that cannot be stopped.
In other words, Mr. Obama's plan is working to the letter and it is time for americans to wake the fuck up.
I would think rather the contrary -- any aircraft is still going to show up on radar, and without a transponder it will raise immediate alarms, whether in or out of normal flight paths.
I like you a lot, I really do... but just like MalaysiaAir 370? Just like on 9/11 when the jet that the passengers took over and crashed in the field "disappeared" from radar for hours after the transponder was turned off? Like that?
Civilian radar has jack to do with "seeing" planes, it sees signals from the plane. And I have doubts about some of the "active" stuff the military is still trying to use...
Add to that those planes could be anywhere over there, but I will give you this, putting one on the butt (in airspeak) of a legit passenger carrier and tailing (intended) it close to where your target...
Ghost, that's a good point. Most of the airport radar relies less on actual radar and more on transponder signals. If you look at a video of their radar screens, you will see number and letter codes, not outlines of planes. That's how they identify the planes and tell them to hold or land. Without the transponder data, they are, for all intents and purposes, invisible. Like I said above, just like that oil tanker that disappeared. They turned off their transponder and didn't show up on radar again until they turned it back on. Then, they were in the same spot where they were last seen. Hide in plain sight.

While an EMP is my worst nightmare, (but I am getting worried about "small" targeted ground e-attacks). We've been saying for years we are more vulnerable than we were before 9/11, and while not worried about my personal safety exactly, I'm seeing some really bad s#!t coming.
