  • I don't care how technical the military has gotten, someone still needs to dig the slit trenches and sling the hash. Maybe these crybaby fools would grow up if they had a DI in their face for 8 weeks then cleaned outhouses and pulled KP for the rest of their 2 year hitch. If nothing else they would learn they are not the only people on this planet.

    • You sound like my father who doesn't consider anybody who isn't infantry a true soldier. He has a point. No matter how many million-dollar cruise missiles you fire, no matter how many thirty-million-dollar fighters you fly over, and no matter how many three-billion-dollar aircraft carriers are parked nearby, the war isn't really won until some unshaven, dirty, footsore, slit-trench-digging infantryman is standing on the disputed ground saying, "This is ours now, what are you gonna do about it?" He and my Navy-vet uncles used to have some good debates.

      • A 3 billion dollar carrier can't get anywhere by itself, it takes sailors to make it work. The flyboys wouldn't be able to get off the deck or land back on it without the deck apes who keep everything working. It's the little guys, the soldiers, sailors and Marines, who make our military what it is. All the eggheads in Washingtoon do is start the wars and f**k things up. The men in the trenches straighten things back out.
