Moment San Diego cop ‘smashes man’s phone and his face to the ground after he refused to stop recording. So what’s behind this type of behavior? It’s rather obvious citizens have the right to videotape cops on public places regardless what the cops are doing. Is it lack of training or an a-hole cop?

  • They passed a law here in the people's republic of illinois that it is a 15 year bid-hard time-if you record a cop-so I do my very best to stay away from them, because no one will ever come forward if the beat the shit out of me, for fear of 15 years in stateville....this is obama/soros' America. rise up, or get used to it!

  • He took the bait and now his LE career is over. He's proven that he can't control his temper and is easily provoked.

    I don't mind at all when the frat and sorioty boys and girls whip out their phones and start recording. Simple reason is if we all go to court I just mention to the prosecutor that they or members of their party filmed the entire interaction and arrest. The look on their faces when the prosecutor request to see the video or tells them they will subpoena their phone records.

    Technology works both ways boys and girls.

    • You and I work the same, It's soo much fun to screw with people who think they are being smart. Record anything you want, I don't do anything different when the recording is on, plus my little digital recorder is always going which is funny because one guy came into play "his recording" for the watch commander and complain about me, (the audio didn't work) we put his video with my audio and it was great, he looked like a complete asshole and was cussing and insulting, I just went about my business. This cop has not figured out that the "No expectation of privacy in public" thing works both ways. I hope he enjoys working the drive up window at Wendy's....

  • With nationwide incidences such as this one reported near-daily, my default support of local police, sheriff's offices and highway patrol has dried up.

    MEMO TO COPS: when you lose the loyalty of law-abiding and constitution-respecting citizens, it's time for inspection, reflection and introspection.

    • Except most of these incidents are male cops, and by definition, males are not refective or introspective. Dounbt that being a cop encourages that either.

  • What is this Singapore? I mean seriously smoking on the sidewalk? How is that an offense? We really need to calm the heck down.

    As for the cop, he must have had a bad day or he is just a bad person. His attitude and his behavior was out of control and he needs to not be a cop anymore and seriously needs to go to prison.

  • I would say massive lawsuit, but it's California. He would just get paid off with useless bonds and a lifetime ticket on the bullet train.

Even though they know it is within a citizens rights to film them when they are in public, they come out with their NEW and IMPROVED reasons for beating you up....it "could be turned into a weapon"...... a CLASSIC case of how they LIE about themselves being in danger to justify a public beatdown of a man who was "GASP" smoking a cigg outside on a public sidewalk!!!! OH THE HORROR, please make sure this nasty felon is carted off to jail post-haste before he blows anymore 2nd-hand-death-smoke into the public air because.....what about the children or something!!!!!
