Mother Jones: “Eating Three Meals a Day is Racist”

Mother Jones: “Eating Three Meals a Day is Racist” Apparently this is because it is something the colonists did but the natives did not. Of course by this reasoning we must assume that the written word is racist as well. Which likely explains why the vaunted Mother Jones is still so fond of using it to make money.

  • Okay.... this has got to stop...

When the governments are not entirely crazy Africans generally speaking eat very very well. And so do most of the other countries in the world... people need to calm the hell down...

  • Seriously folks, this is Mother Jones we're talking about.

Anything they say should be given the same importance as the babblings of a drunken bum on a NYC subway grate, or a PETA spokesperson. Any similarities with coherent English are purely coincidental.

If I'm ever in a debate with someone, and they pop out with a quote from Mother Jones, my next statement is ... (pause) ... So. Seen any good movies lately?

    • More like: "Where you buying the good stuff these days." Except that I'm not interested -- whatever they're smoking just makes them stupider.

      • The perfect example f wy toavoid consuming marijuana. That's historically been what is used at Mother Jones.

        • well, I just realized that Mother Jones is NOT what/who I thought it/she was. What's the name of that short, black, fat, tv woman not oprah, thought her name was mother jones.
          Also not tempest

          • Well, that's a first for me to be "under moderation", but I'd bet the farm what set it off, but it's still a direct quote from a former President of the United States, My point was, ... no, you tell me what my point was to get "looked at".

          • Oh man, Kip...
Actually, I've written 3 Oh-Nos for the auto thing sent to you...

But re-reading I stand by it. I know what tripped it, and wasn't thinking... but it was from a quote from a U.S. President. I rest my case.

{enjoy cooking the spaghetti & grilled cheese as long as you can... my 'Baby' gets married at the end of May... And I'm scared to death.

          • I never approve any of the "under moderation" because I don't know if I'm supposed to. I will get some clarification on that. I don't imagine whatever it was could be too bad. Anyway, thanks for commenting I'm always glad when someone feels a post is worthy of such!

          • OK, I've gotten two Emails about this from other readers... Kip, I'll tell you exactly why my post was flagged... it has to do with a certain word that was in a quote from a former President. Give you a hint, it starts with an 'N'.

I can understand why the word is so hateful, but I used it in a quote from a former President.

Still stand by the original, but holy crap Kip, I hope to goodness your inbox looks like mine.*
*just think if we held the nuke keys what our mail would look like.

          • Hey, I wasn't being flip, Kip. I knew after I saw the "under moderation" thing, I re-read it and know why... delete it if it's a big deal, no hard feelings ok? But it was a quote.

[edit] Wait, wait. I totally agree with your response and closed all this out and then thought... What? I'm the first time he responded to an "oh no" Email from one of his posts? I meant no disrespect Kip, and Mr. Ed et al. Still stand by it though, deal? Just don't ban me.

          • Of course no hard feelings! I'm sorry if I made it seem that I was upset in any way, I was not at all. I didn't even know about it until I saw your post a few minutes ago and haven't even looked at the comment in question. I never approve the "under moderation" comments because I don't know if the owners want me to have that authority or not. So I will look into that aspect of it.

Again though sorry if I gave the impression that I thought anything was other than hunky dory.

          • Not at all, I'm kicking myself for copying & pasting the quote w/out doing the * thing. I know better.

What has me on my "high horse", is these people in power think they can screw with me (Soviets anyone?)... OK, I'm old... my girls? That's different but they're of voting age (my 'Baby' gets MARRIED at the end of May... I'm scared to death!)

But I have a new grandchild, he's a year old...
what am I leaving for him?

This s#!t has to stop or we're screwed. T'anx for letting me vent Kip. Sorry if I interrupted your day, I'm doing the clock thing after EDT, you did change the clocks, right?

I'm sick of all this... for me? No. The girls? Absolutely, I tried to reach them as best I could. ( ask a few of their so-called dates) My new grandson, scares me to death.

Anyway, I know why it was flagged after a re-read, my mistake trying to make a point.

And the first one who doesn't get the irony and plays the race card will get a serious dose of facts. Yes it was tacky, but love and hugs haven't worked. You want the #s, I got 'em.

LBJ: “I’ll have those n****rs voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”
-guess what folks, you were snookered.. the #s say you've been overwhelmingly voting Dem in national elections for the past 35 years.

Crude? Yes. But I'm pissed off. They're using PEOPLE to keep their power. So, now, we have the Clarence Thomas' of the world leaving the plantation... so they?

Make a new plantation! You think they "like" Mexicans? Central Americans? Not a chance, instant voters. The same reason they vilify the darker among us who don't toe the "party" line.

It's amazed me for 20 years why the "black" vote goes to Dems when they get screwed from every corner, from local on up. End rant.

          • Hawkins, Texas is not the home of the Aunt Jemima pancake or the place where pancakes were invented. Hawkins is the “Pancake Capital of Texas” because a long time resident of Hawkins, Lillian Richard, portrayed “Aunt Jemima” for Quaker Oats from 1925-1947 and traveled throughout the southern United States promoting the Aunt Jemima pancake. The chamber of commerce decided to use Hawkins’ connection to Aunt Jemima to boost tourism. The designation of “Pancake Capital of Texas” passed the Texas legislature in Senate Resolution No. 73 in 1995 upon the introduction of a resolution by State Senator David Cain, spearheaded by Lillian's niece, Jewell Richard-McCalla, a life long resident of Hawkins. A parade was held in Hawkins celebrating this designation and the long time resident who got it all started. The reason given by the chamber and by Senator Cain for the designation, “Hawkins has to be known for something”!

Lillian was born in 1891 and grew up in the tiny community of Fouke, outside of Hawkins Texas, east of Mineola. She moved to Dallas when she was 20 — where she was hired by Quaker Oats Company to promote making pancakes under the moniker “Aunt Jemima.” She did so for 23 years, until she suffered a stroke in 1948. She returned to Fouke, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She died in 1956 and is buried in the Fouke Memorial Cemetery. Lillian was honored with a Texas Historical Marker dedicated in her name on Saturday June 30, 2012 at a ceremony at the Fouke Community Center, FM 2869, east of Mineola at 10 a.m.

  • How about the folks at Mother Jones stop eating three meals a day and start scrounging for food like the natives..Instead of going out to the forest they could dumpster dive for their meals. That would make them less racist and keep them busy and away from the office (which I bet has vending machines) and away from their computers for long periods of time. And no cheating! No soup kitchens, no food pantries, you have to find it yourself.

    • You just made another good point, Mother Jones is racist for writing these articles on their computers, because the Native Americans didn't have computers!!

  • Who gives an eff what Mother Jones thinks? Seriously, they have David Corn, & people barely know who he is. Eff Mother Jones.

    • No. Because they are Muslim, regardless of race. You really don't get this, do you? /sarc off

  • So how about those people that eat six meals a day? More racist or less?

So are fat people more racist than skinny people?

  • However, if your kids pitch the FLOTUS-required vegetables in their school lunch into the garbage that is also racist, so they will have to eliminate some other meal.
