M&S faces boycott as it lets Muslim staff refuse to sell alcohol or pork. PC gets crazier every day. This should be a simple if they don’t want to do that job they should work elsewhere.

  • I've had four tours in the Middle East, and I then worked for the American Embassy in Pakistan, and I have yet to meet even the higher-class muslims that matched the average American in hygiene.

    • Actually, I feel pretty much the same way about muslims as I do homosexuals, believe what you believe and do what you do without pushing it off on others and it does not bother me.

      I may not agree with their views, beliefs, or lifestyles.....but I don't have to live it either.

            If you REALLY want to make me mad, refute what I say. Show me some evidence that "Obamacare" really IS as toxic as you've been programmed to claim. But, so far, all I'm seeing is that you hate it because you've been manipulated into hating it. Or, in your case, it's because you're being forced to take some responsibility for your own health care, rather than whining, "I can't afford it," and letting the rest of us pay for it, through increased prices.

    • It all depends on who they are, just like anyone else.
      The fanatics that live in caves are disgusting, but I have met some very nice Muslims that are just as clean as you and I.

      • Halal food handling is quite similar to kosher. But if the Muslims you've met are NICE, then I don't consider them to be true Muslims, as they are not following Mohammed's teachings.

        The friend I mentioned above is VERY nice, and has cooked dinner for us a few times. But although she says she's a Muslim, she doesn't claim to be a practicing Muslim. If she were, she'd be a different person.

        • So... she is associating herself culturally to Islam, but doesn't practice the actual religion... I guess that is why many people consider Muslims to be a people like Jews when in all reality Muslims are not a people like Jews at all, but they want to be by stating that if you are born from Muslim parents you are a Muslim and that is not correct. Just like a child born from Christian parents is not a Christian. Only Jews can claim to be Jews born from at least a Jewish parent, because Jews are both a People and/or Practitioners of the Jewish religion. She is not a Muslim she is just born from Muslim parents.

          • Not necessarily true, Kimmy. Muslims, like Christians and Jews, vary in the extent to which they follow religious teachings. Hasidic Jews, for example, are a lot stricter than reformed Jews.

            Christians are Christians, Muslims are Muslims and Jews are Jews if they self identify as such. It's up to God (or Allah, or whatever you choose to call Him), not you or me or Flash, to decide whether or not they're qualified to do so.

        • My friends are practicing Muslim, and are VERY nice too. They are all from Egypt and are so very gracious, they celebrate our Christmas ( per say ) and Easter with us. In turn we celebrate Ramadan and EID with them. I just have to make 2 lasagna's, ( for Christmas ) one without out wine in the sauce and sans ground pork. ;-)

          • I don't know if my friend eats pork or not, but she's certainly no Muslim. Not if you look at religion as I do. I don't consider anyone to be a whatever, unless they follow whatever's teachings. Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, whatever.

        • Halal slaughter is more tuned to prolonging the discomfort for the animal than is Kosher, by an order of magnitude.

  • This is total BS! I know 50 Muslims, REAL Muslims ... not the extremist Islamists, who work, manage or own restaurants that serve pork. In addition to that, their restaurants have many guests that are Muslims who eat there on a regular basis ( they just don't eat the pork products ).

          I sat at dinner Saturday night with some good friends, one of whom says she's a Muslim. As this gorgeous woman sat across the table from me, dressed in a HOT miniskirt, heels, stockings, makeup, streaks of blond in her dark hair, and got just little bit drunk, I had to question her Islamic faith. Oh, she also has two dogs at home.

          • Where does it say in the Koran they can not serve or sell pork or alcohol? And what's the deal with dogs? ( not trying to be a smarty-pants, I honestly do not know )

            It seems that, overall, if a dog can be beneficial to the Muslim, they'll overlook the fact that it's unclean.

            Muslims and sniffer dogs

            In Britain, despite a reporting suggesting that police sniffer dogs trained to detect explosives should no longer come into contact with Muslim passengers, British Transport Police insisted it would still use sniffer dogs with any passengers regardless of faith, but handlers would remain aware of “cultural sensitivities”.[35]

            A proposal was made from the Association of Chief Police Officers that sniffer dogs used to search mosques and Muslim homes should be fitted with leather bootees to cover their paws so that they don't cause offence.[36] Muslim prisoners in Britain can get fresh clothes and bedding where the prisoner feels they have been defiled by dog saliva. Copies of the Quran and other religious items are searched by hand instead.

            Personally, I think the dog should get fresh bedding and a bath after being defiled by contact with a Muslim.

          • I have Muslim friends that ADORE my dog ( of course he is a Rock Star anyway ). One has dogs of his own, the others have no pets. I never really gave this any thought until now.

  • Should be a simple enough solution. Have part of the stores dedicated to strictly halal products, and let the Mohammedans work those setions. You might call it a "separate but equal" system.

    • What will start happening is shop owners will go missing and their muslim employees will take over the shops without filing any information pertinent to the UK authority unless said authority is already under the control of the muslim takeover army. After all, they do already have 85 shari'a courts. They probably only have to notify the imam and the clerics that they will now be paying the zakat. They surely don't feel the need to satisfy any of the laws of the land, only the shari'a.

      • Melon, it's not an either/or proposition, any more than Jewish beth din courts can disregard the laws of OUR land.

        Only in theocracies can religious civil law trump secular laws. And, in case you hadn't noticed it, the only people who seem to be clamoring to turn the U.S. into a theocracy are you right wingers.

            Because, obviously, if you’re opposed to Sharia courts settling civil disputes between consenting parties, you’re opposed to Beth Din courts doing the same thing.
