I am proud to say that I've never purchased anything Springsteen in my life, & I never will. Not for myself, & not as a gift. People here at IHTM know what I like musically, & they know where my money goes. I spend a few bucks on music audio/video & concerts, none of it goes to hyper political leftist idiots like Springsteen, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, The Police(Sting), Neil Young, Bon Jovi, or any other lib acts. I pay too much to hear angry political rants from the stage when I just tune into MSNBC. Entertain me, don't talk at me.

Waaaay back in the '80s - that age of Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, and other people dressing strangely, I had a guy tell me, "I like Bruce Springsteen because he doesn't have a gimmick; he's just an ordinary guy in a t-shirt and jeans." I replied, "OK, say that again and listen to yourself."
So, in answer to your question: yes. They really DO believe they are part of the paper-sack lunch crowd. It's called "falling for your own gimmick." (Heck, the guy's initials are B.S.)

Though I don't agree with Boy George's personal life, he was one of the great singers of the 80s. What a voice. My sister bought me Culture Club tickets in 1984 for a birthday present. She, along with her then boyfriend and my brother and I saw them at the Louisville Gardens.
More and more, I'm starting to have the same problem with Springsteen that I have with John Cougar Mellencamp from nearby Indiana. They're too loudly liberal.
Now I guess Springsteen will be giving his millions to the movement, selling any expensive homes he owns, and moving into a tent, beating drums for tips to give to the leaders. Right? Right?
My second biggest gripe with Springsteen is his terrible music.
Dude, socialism is for the people, not the socialist. Springsteen will never live by the rules he wishes to prescribe for you.
BTW, I'm with you, his music sucks. When I was a kid when "The River" came out, I tried to get into what everyone said was the greatest thing ever. I did'nt feel it, & I still don't. I'm glad I did'nt.
