A valid id is required for virtually everything else. Why not for voting? The question is a rhetorical one and really does not need an answer. These people feel as if they should just walk up to any polling place and vote and vote and vote. One person, one vote, not one person many votes until my man wins.
As for convicted felony’s, they lost the right to vote when the where convicted of the crimes for which they where sentenced. It's called being a responsible citizen.

At the risk of being called raaaacist, I do note that the alleged increase in minority voters ended up with Obamarama as President, so maybe we shouldn't encourage that vote. JUST KIDDING. Still, a valid ID to vote seems a reasonable request. You will never convince me anyone CAN"T get identification. Maybe harder for some than others, but it can be done. Segregation did not result in loss of birth certificates either, though natural disasters and illegal immigration would. And since our colleges take anyone, a college ID does not prove the person is eligible to vote. As far as convicted felons-do YOU want a murderer deciding matters of law and justice? Or a pedophile, a career thief, robber, or drug convict?

Will they petition the U.N. to look at ACORN registrations or the New Black Panther voter intimidation from 2008? How about Al Franken's mysterious come from behind victory over Norm Coleman in Minnesota? Democratic victories in past years in Washington state and Louisiana could use some scrutiny from the U.N. also.
They should give them drug tests before voting along with a photo ID
Drug tests for anyone on welfare would be a great start.
BTW, I always present my ID when I vote. It usually gets brushed off, but I do it to make a point. I mention that everyone should produce an ID, I'm nice about it, but I do mention it.
Florida is drug testing people that sign up for welfare now. There was an over 20% drop in claims when that started. People that had filled out paperwork actually abandoned their claims!
Gues that proves Olivia's incessant blathering about how wrong the testing was (as usual) full of it. Most jobs require drug screening at thispoint. Seems only fair if you are getting moneyu from the government, you would need to prove you aren't blowing money on drugs.

Nobody said you had to have a drivers license, any government issued picture ID is valid, including welfare cards.
BTW, you can go to your DMV and get a photo ID without having to get a drivers license, the only problem is they make you prove who you are, and no, a death certificate isn't legal proof!

True about the driver's license but don't people have to produce valid ID to get welfare benefits, buy alcohol, pick up mail at the post office, sign an apartment lease, get on a plane, use a credit card, or check into a hotel? I don't believe we are stressing anyone's civil rights.

I find it outrageous that some think it reasonable to return the right to vote to convicted felons. I could care less if they did their time or not. If it is right to let them have the vote, why don't we hear their supporters insisting on returning their right to keep and bear arms? Idiots!
