National Education Association spent $35 million on politics in 2014

• Public education has long since stopped having anything to do with education. It is a big welfare system - its purpose is to provide 6-figure incomes to people who have no marketable skills and are unable to produce anything of value. So all they have left is use of gov't force and demagoguery (if you are against them enriching themselves at an obscene level, you are "against the children" - end of argument)

  First, I take it as a given that the public school system does not educate. It socializes, and that is all it intends to do. John Dewey (aka, Ellsworth Toohey, just my opinion), has completely taken over the system. And yes, I hear the arguments from parents - "you're wrong, my kids got a great education". Yes, and it was in spite of, not because of the public school system. It was due primarily to you, the parents. If the parents are not involved, the kid has zero chance.

  "But most teachers are good hard-working people who really care about the children"

  That's the line I hear, in one form or another. A couple of thoughts on the subject:

  First, yes that is probably true. Unfortunately, caring is not enough. You need to have some smarts. And sadly, the education profession has little. That is a documented fact. Education majors have lower math SAT scores than art majors. Education majors have lower verbal SAT scores than engineering majors. Most of academia views schools of education as the dregs of their community (source: Thomas Sowell - read his writing on the subject, they are footnoted out the wazoo).

  So they really care, but it's the system. It's too entrenched.

  Okay, but who is voting for the union leadership?

  Using that logic, the guards and gas chamber operators in Auschwitz, etc. are not to blame. They were just following orders. It was "the system" that was at fault.

  You, the teacher is at the front line. It's YOUR money that is going to politics. YOU know what the goal of said politicking is. YOU know that you are passing kids who did not make the grade, in some cases are unable to read "see spot run".

  Deep down you may care, but it doesn't show. Sorry, caring does not get you off the hook with me.

• looks like it was money pissed away based on the election results. In Minnesota, state bird and state voter is the loon, one is a bird and the other is an idiot. The MEA or some damn teachers org, sent out their endorsements for statewide elections held last month. Democraps endorsed, 90; Republicans endorsed 0. I have a friend to wrote them a blistering letter and resigned from the organization. He tells me he did not resign diplomatically.

  • From the looks of things the only ones who received an education, were the members who pissed their money away on a bunch of losers.

• Why de NEA gots to buy themselves some of dem dare lefty politicians so theys can get more of da money for da common core and more money for da pension fund, and more money for da administrators, and more money for da diversity and indoctrination classes......and more money for da butt sex classes, and all da other stuff.....

  Written just like da common core.....dem children's be da smartest......
