Never happen. If it only applies to State Dinners, the Wookie will just go on vacation when there is one planned.
They are coming as close as they ever will to admitting that their ultimate quest is tyranny... every bit of "good start" is simply a means to an end.. they look at every encroachment into our freedoms as simply another bit of unfinished business.

Well, the shoving thing was meant as a metaphor, but since you mention it...
You are 100% right. That admission is done on a regular basis, but as long as this country is filled with half-wits who actually think these are great heroes who dedicate their lives to public service (just look at the fawning over the careers of Lautenberg or Teddy the swimmer when the world is finally rid of them), they will continue to make these admissions without so much as a raised eyebrow.
I call them parasites with the full meaning of the word. Tens of thousands of years ago, the bigger one would whack a smaller one with his club, or a rock, and take his food. Later, the bigger one would gather an army and roll through the victims' villages and take everything that was not nailed down.
Now they run for office after having convinced enough people that they are looking out for our own good. And if the election isn't going their way, they make up some numbers. But the end result is the same as 10,000 years ago. Because it's the same damn people. Just like the lion is hard-wired to kill the wildebeast, these people are hard-wired to take from others by force. Since they're more eloquent, they don't have to do it by sticking up gas stations. But it doesn't mean they are any different.
