Does the New York school system teach the definition of "illegal"?
Their definition of "illegal" is "Those deserving of better treatment than the people born here".

Sorry New York. You cannot make a law that is less stringent than federal law. You can make it more stringent, but not less.
That said, we are talking about the rule of Obama, and we all knows what that means. The fed didn't balk at Kalifornia and medical marijuana, or Colorado and recreational marijuana, so why would the Obama DOJ enforce the law this way?
How does New York get around the I-9 forms that are required to be filled out when being hired?
Immigrants being part of society is fantastic as long as they went through the immigration process correctly and legally and with regard for the laws. I am not saying that someone being here for a long time (over 10 years) should just be disallowed to make a good living, but he or she needs to be put at the back of the line and if need be sent back to where they came from and apply like everyone else giving them consideration over new applicants (in the country of origin) so they can come back here legally... they can't just come here and be given licenses and ability to work in most jobs just like that...
If they are to stay here then they need to get an associate degree, bachelor's or professional certification at their own expense (or take extensive tests at their own expense proving they have the educational background) and then work pro bono/ and for some compensation with a federal, state or private charitable or community organization for a few years OR they should serve in the military for four or five years (civilian is fine) OR they should be part of Americorps, Peacecorps or any other government/civilian community organization for over 3 years OR work for a private/religious charity for 3-5 years OR work in the agricultural/ranching field for 3-5 years. Temporary resident papers can be given and when their term is over they can be granted citizenship, but they have to pay all taxes and fees and no one waiting in line should be hampered. No welfare, no medicaid, no medicare... they can apply for private insurance or be part of health co-ops as long as they have their legal papers. Immigrants should know English well enough to speak and write to communicate effectively. Get rid of the notion that anyone born here no matter who their parents are are US citizen. That is not right. Make sure that both the immigrant and any employer are properly penalized for working here illegally/hiring illegal worker.
Everything good and worthwhile takes sacrifice and this is how you get immigrants to integrate and assimilate, learn the language and become patriotic, grateful and properly prideful members of society that they willingly want to live in.
Is this too harsh? It just seems like common sense to me. Any good place worth living requires some degree of appropriate behavior to live there. If people just come here and do what they want that is called lawlessness and it only leads to more if not by all by a lot and enough to cause unnecessary injury or death on people that shouldn't be injured or murdered.
Also all countries should have a right to protect their sovereignty. It is just normal.
